Chapter 4: Confrontation

Chapter 4: Confrontation

Checking the halls, Bryan shuffled the paper clip for a couple of seconds until a particular sound echoed, signifying his success.

The door made a sound the moment he unlocked it. He opened the door quietly, closing it behind him. He then walked to the computer, taking out a USB stick and inserted it in one of the ports.

This USB I coded should grab most of the text logs from the keylogger

He affirmed internally as the files continued to download. Just as it finished pulling it out, muffled footsteps could be heard slowly closing in.

FUCK!

Bryan cursed inwardly as he tried to find somewhere to hide.

Shit! Nowhere I can hide.

Bryan cursed Mr. Rogers repeatedly as he scanned the room, his eyes slowly rested on the only window leading to the court-yard of the school. He fumbled as he opened the window, finding a tree directly in front of him.

Calculating the distance, he calmed his mind before leaping out. His arms outstretched towards a thick branch as he managed to gain a firm grasp.

Then, using the trunk of the tree to get down, he planted his feet steadily on the fresh-cut grass.

Sprinting back to his classroom, the smell of freshly mown grass wafted into his nose with each stride he took. He ran without a single glance back.

After his brush of trouble, Bryan kept his usual poker face as Mr. Rogers sported a confused look throughout his class. Bryan realized he left the window open, but it didn't matter now.

The school day went off without a hitch as he prepared everything he needed to expose Mr. Rogers.

Time flew by until the school bell rung. Bryan exited the classroom, he walked to the end of the hallway. He was planning to go to the local news station to finish this matter once and for all when he passed by a conspicuous room. He stared at the sign of the door.

Broadcasting Room, eh?

His brain started to churn furiously as a new scheme formed in his mind. He looked around, making sure no one could see him, before walking in towards the computers and broadcasting equipment.

“Change of plans. I'll expose you in the school itself!” Bryan whispered as he chuckled evilly, setting his new plan into motion.

After setting up the pictures he took, Bryan took out the keylogger, which recorded what Mr. Rogers typed on his laptop. He plugged it in one of the computer there, accessing the text log. He scrolled through and keyed in potential IDs and passwords. The downside of the logger was it couldn't label any of the text, so Bryan had to comb through the log to find what he was looking for. It didn't take long before he was able to get the right combination. Having everything set, he took out another USB which had a bright-green color. It had a symbol of a black lock embedded on the front. He recalled the device in front of him.

> VPN - HIDES THE IP AND LOCATION OF THE MACHINE THIS DEVICE IS PLUGGED INTO. MAX USES 3/3

>

> 5 CRYPTS

This is rather useful. Too bad it only works three times though. Guess I have to do it manually after the VPN runs out.

He plugged it in, waiting for it to activate. Once the black lock on the green stick lit up with a red sinister light did Bryan start logging into Mr. Rogers' emails, messages, and social media. He started to collect all the messages incriminating him, putting them with the file of pictures. Lastly, he uploaded the video he took to the file.

He unplugged the USB and grabbed a controller for the broadcast to play in the auditorium. There was a big screen used for assemblies every Tuesday to talk about events for the week. For Bryan, though, this was the biggest stage to could ruin him.

He-he, can't wait for tomorrow. Now I just need to watch the show.

He packed up and erased any traces he could have left, slowly slipping out with a leisurely pace towards the exit.

Bryan left school heading towards the front gate. He walked with other students who were done with clubs and others. As he was just heading out towards the gate, a deep, raspy voice called out. Everyone turned towards this voice, including Bryan.

“Bryan! Where do you think your going, huh? Bastard!”

A man exuding arrogance swaggered over with two others behind him. The man was a giant, standing six feet tall; he had wavy bleached hair. An ear-piercing on his left ear, bronze tanned skin, and sharp lion amber eyes. His shirt couldn't cover the well-defined muscles underneath, showing he trained regularly. Hearing his name, he turned around, feeling familiarity with the voice. When his sight landed on the behemoth in front of him, he realized why.

Shit, is it Wayne?

The school valued Wayne a lot. Although he looked like a delinquent, he was the national judo champion, giving him some importance. In addition, his father is an important government official. Since he was practically the face of the school, the faculty turned a blind eye to his tyranny of others. What's more important, a couple of kids over the son of a government official? The school was also one of the best in the country. Getting expelled was the same as dying.

His tyranny over everyone made him notorious. He bullied everyone, extorted money and thrashed anyone who refused. One day, 'Bryan' saw one of his friends getting extorted and tried to tell the faculty. 'Bryan' was quite naïve, thinking he could solve this issue in such a way.

Unsurprisingly, Wayne got only off with a light warning. With a slap on the wrist, he marked 'Bryan'. Wayne made it a habit to beat 'Bryan' up daily, turning him into a personal punching bag. More so, he paid for all his meals and even bought cigarettes for him. It was astonishing how he still had some savings in his account. Bryan started to speculate Wayne as the primary reason life was a living hell in his memories. Although Bryan didn't really care about it since it never affected him, his memories of Wayne started to cloud his judgement, slowly changing his mindset. He felt hatred and anger which juxtaposed his usual calm, cool, and collected demeanor.

He wanted to vent.

This body is too weak though, if I only had my weapons. I don't know if I can take them all out bare handed. Maybe if I resorted to some underhanded methods, I can get the upper hand…

Bryan still kept his rationale and analyzed his situation. He didn't get a chance to work out after coming back. He had been too busy scheming against his teacher and hunching over his computer, practicing. The consequences of this started to show, resorting to trickery.

“Are you listening, bitch? Go buy me some cigarettes. I want to smoke, and so do my pals here. Don't waste my time.” said Wayne as he started to crack his knuckles, reminding Bryan of their 'happy memories' together.

His two lackeys, Aaron and Bennett, started laughing heartily, pulling in the surrounding students. Aaron and Bennett were only one inch shorter than Wayne. They seemed like twins as their brown hair, black eyes, and square facial features were almost identical. The crowd saw the three of them head towards Bryan, but didn't interfere.

Although they saw the poor student got beat almost daily, they didn't stop it as it was their only source of entertainment in their uneventful lives. Not to mention the fear of getting picked on. A crowd started forming and encircling them, leaving the 'poor student' with no escape. Bryan saw this, but didn't care. He felt confident fighting these wannabe gangsters.

Bryan snorted coldly in response to Wayne's provocative demands and responded with one word, stunning the passersby, including Wayne and his gang.

“No” he said resolutely, his voice roaring and shredding through the crowd.

Silence reigned for half a minute before the crowd's frozen expression turned into one of pity and ridicule. They whispered to each other. Wayne's frozen expression twitched slightly, turning into a face of a malevolent demon.

“Is he crazy?”

“Poor kid, I think he's got brain damage after all those beatings”

“To stand up to Wayne, he's an idiot”

The students' whispers grew louder and louder, which then turned into chattering. However, the only silent ones were Bryan and Wayne. Wayne spoke, silencing everyone once again.

“Do you have a death wish?” Wayne forcefully uttered, suppressing his anger, his face growing slightly red. He didn't know where he got his courage from, but knew he had to make an example of him to reiterate his standing. Aaron and Bennett stopped whispering also having angry reactions to Bryan's response.

Witnessing his anger, people started to quiver slightly, trying to act naturally. Cold sweat were soaking their clothes as they watched. They saw what he did to Bryan before, fearing he may take his anger out on them, they kept still and silent throughout their confrontation. Although everyone was drowning in dreading, Bryan laid back without a care in the world.

“Didn't you hear me? I said no. Do you have shit for brains?”

“…”

Everyone's facial muscles twitched, not knowing whether to commend him for his bravery or scorn him for his recklessness. Wayne couldn't stand still after his provocation, sparking his fuse to blow. He walked slowly towards him, each stride creating a small vibration due to his size, until he was standing in front of the scrawny teen. Although everyone knew Wayne was big, in front of Bryan, he was a skyscraper.

Wayne suddenly hurled his boulder like fist directly towards his head, intending to smash it like a watermelon. Obviously, Bryan stand there like a raccoon in floodlights. Despite thinking this was the end for him, they were pleasantly surprised. Bryan tilted his head slightly left, missing the boulder by a hair's breath. He then jumped, throwing his fist at Wayne's throat, to close the height gap between them.

Wayne couldn't react in time as he felt his throat getting squashed. Wayne held his throat, struggling for breath, gesturing hastily to his two lackeys to attack him. The crowd watched on incredulously. Aaron and Bennett glanced at each other, coming to a tacit agreement before charging towards Bryan. Bryan's calm expression changed into one of fear as he stared at a certain direction. Distracted, Aaron and Bennett looked towards what Bryan feared from the corner of their eyes.

The action was enough to lose their momentum in their attacks. Getting what he wanted, Bryan's terrified expression morphed into a cold sneer. Aaron's punch towards his abdomen and Bennett's kick at his waist lost their explosive power. Realizing they got tricked, the twins tried to retreat, but it was too late. Bryan suddenly moved, locking the kick with the left arm while grabbing the wrist with the other.

A crisp breaking noise resounded as he twisted the wrist away from him, breaking it. Aaron tumbled towards the ground, clutching his wrist, wailing in pain. Bennett struggled to escape when he saw Aaron sorry state.

However, he could only helplessly gaze at Bryan for mercy. What he wished for could only stay in his fantasies as he watched the scrawny teen take a step forward, dropping his right elbow like a comet directly on his locked leg.

Bennett could feel his leg breaking, falling down to the side. Under his dumbfounded gaze, he looked down at his leg. It was completely broken, making a forty-five degree angle. He felt intense pain pounding his entire body as he broke into sobs, weeping like a newborn child.
