I woke up today with the smell of bananas filling my nostrils. It was probably gabrielle brewing her magical banana milkshakes again, but what did I know?
I tried to stretch my limbs when I remembered I was inside a sleeping bag. I unzipped the sleeping bag and stretched.
“Good morning Alex.” I said with a yawn.
“Good morning dear.” she answered me. “I wonder what’s smelling so good?”
I got out of the tent and looked around. Sure enough, Gabrielle was there making her milkshakes.
“Good morning Gabrielle. milkshake on the menu this morning?” I asked her.
“You Betcha! Fresh from the source just this morning.” She exclaimed.
“Gabrielle, I never asked but where exactly do you get this... Milkshake stuff?”
She shrugged. “The banana cow, where else?” She nodded to the yellow-colored cow behind her. “Have you never seen a banana cow before or what’s the deal?”
I tilted my head in confusion but shrugged it off. Guess that’s just another creature I need to write in my journal.
Hey, author here. I know this is a little out of the blue, but I'm doing a timeskip here. 9 months, so right before Alex is going to give birth! You might be a little confused as to why I'm doing this? Well, I'm a little tired of this book to be honest and I want to make another book with another Main Character, still set in this universe. You’ll see more of that later!
I looked down at valentine. It has really turned into a little town, all by itself. Merchants from everywhere are flooding into town, and we have new townsfolk arrive every week. After the city started to gain traction, we took down the previously built wood walls around the city and instead opted for a fence around town instead. Every time someone builds a new home, we extend the fence around the new building.
Alex came up to me. “This place has definitely grown.” She said, before caressing her belly. We’d gotten a doctor into town, and he proposed it would be a matter of weeks before Alex was ready to give birth. I couldn’t be happier.
I looked down from the watchtower. I could see David sitting on the front porch of the town hall we’d built. After we started gaining new settlers, he volunteered to be the mayor of Valentine. Everyone in the group agreed, and thus we let him “steer the ship”. Jesse of course, was still nagging behind him and the two often fought over petty issues like whether we should have taxes or not.
A little further down the street was our blacksmith shop, manned by the Dapper man Anders. He’d decided to use his demon powers for good, and nowadays he uses his hellfire-fired forge to craft the best weaponry in a 300-mile radius. Of course, we had the occational outburst where Luca would show itself. Anders had gotten better at controlling the demon, but he still had a far way to go.
As far as gabrielle was concerned, she’d made a living selling her banana milkshakes. Every penny she got was either spent on buying more banana cows, or improving their wellbeing. She was the very pinnacle of a good tradeswoman, and we were all proud of it.
Me? I continue to be viewed as the founder and main leader of Valentine. David may be mayor, but I was the head of state, if you catch my drift. Aside from that, I'd somehow ran out of bullets in the mo’or bag. I thought I'd never see the day, but as it turned out even good things must come to an end. At this point in my travels, I'd become so good at controlling my wolf form that it didn’t even end up mattering in the end.
I took a deep breath of the village air. David said he needed me to help him with some relation issues apparently, and I naturally agreed. It was my job to do petty things like this after all.
“Well, Alex, you just stay indoors for the day, okay? If the water breaks, just tell me through the Spectator realm, alright?”
Alex looked at me with a smile. “Of course.”
I gave her a loving kiss before I exited the building.
“Ah there you are.” David stood up from his chair. “The people you’re meeting refers to themselves as the...” He flipped a few papers around. “The purebloods.”
…
WHAT?
“WHAT?” I screamed at David.
David, a little scared, just showed me the document. I ripped it out of his hands. Sure enough, it was from the purebloods. It even had their markings on it.
All the pent-up rage I had from back then came flooding back. How? How were they still alive? Did they have other outposts? I needed answers.
Faron, calm down. We need to think about this rationally. I don’t know these people, as I wasn’t linked to you at that time, but I'm sure we can-
‘Shut up Omen! These guys are nothing but evil. We need to kill them!’
Hey now. Don’t give me that tone. Calm the fuck down. We can’t just go kill them like we could before. We have responsibilities now, remember? Alex. Valentine. We need to think rationally about stuff like this.
I was still angry, but I took a deep breath to recollect myself. There was a tiny, tiny piece of me that still believed nothing would go wrong.
But when I say tiny, I mean tiny. It was practically not there. It was far overshadowed by the thoughts of the racist atrocities they’d committed the last time i saw them.
I just stood there in silence for a few seconds, with my hands firmly crumpling the paper into a ball.
‘Okay, we can do this.’ “Where is this meeting, then?” I asked David.
Enjoying this book? Seek out the original to ensure the author gets credit.
“Are... You okay?” David asked me.
I glared daggers at him. “I’m fine. Now tell me where this meeting is so we can get this over with.”
The meeting took place at the outskirts of town, in a small shack of all places. I decided to have Anders escort me just in case anything went wrong.
Right as I was about to enter the hut, Anders put his big hand on my shoulder. “Here, I'll leave a little piece of Luca on you. If anything happens, he will know. I’ll come in right away.”
I nodded my thanks at him and touched my shoulder. It was a tiny lump made of some red-black ish material.
‘Okay Faron, you got this. Don’t freak out.’
I opened the door to the Hut, before walking in. It was completely dark inside.
“Hey there. I come in peace.”
Suddenly the door behind me closed shut, and I was left in the pitch-black darkness of the room.
I saw someone light a torch out of the corner of my eye, before the room became illuminated in a bright light.
My eyes took a moment to adjust.
What i saw made my heart sink.
It was the leader of the gang, Priest.
“We meet again.” His words sounded like sandpaper on my ears.
I was just about to poke the piece on my shoulder, when I felt a hand wrap around my mouth. I bit it and kicked my leg back. I heard the sound of a femur shattering as the hand was retracted from my mouth followed by a scream. It was sadly too little too late, as I felt my head get lighter.
“What sorcery...” was all I could say before I faceplanted on the floor.
Anders POV
It’d be a long time since Faron entered the building, and I was starting to get concerned.
Relax, I can still feel his heartbeat- Wait. Something happened. It suddenly went much slower.
My eyes widened at Luca’s words, and I smashed the door down with a kick.
I saw Faron lying on the floor in a pool of blood.
The rage was way too much for me to contain, and I exploded in a fiery rage as Luca exited my body.
“OH, YOU FUCKERS ARE DEAD NOW!” I heard my demon yell out.
Unfortunately, without Luca keeping the wounds of my would-be death back, the wounds returned. My throat was now slit, and I felt it hard to keep consciousness. I fell backward on the grass gurgling in blood, trying to get air into my lungs.
Luca POV
I was finally free from Anders’ body! Oh, how long I've awaited this feeling.
I knew I had to work quickly though, as Anders’ body wouldn’t survive long without my power keeping it stable. If he died, I would be sent back to hell. I was on a timer.
I extended one of my arms through the winged man in the center of the hut, before infusing him with demonic energy. His flesh disintegrated, and following a scream of agony, there was only a pile of ash left on the floor. I shook my hand, getting the cremations off my fiery hand.
The two other people in the room were horrified by their leader's death and huddled into a corner for safety. God, I love the taste of fear.
I couldn’t savor it for long unfortunately, and so I launched a hellfire grenade at the two. They didn’t last longer than two seconds in the flames.
Suddenly, my legs got weak as my connection to the mortal realm was beginning to fade. I made a jump for it and landed at Anders’ feet. I touched his foot and let myself get absorbed into his body again. It was fun while it lasted.
Anders POV
I began hyperventilating, only succeeding in filling my lungs with blood. After what felt like an eternity, I felt a hot hand touch my foot. I forcefully coughed out all the blood in my lungs, and I could finally breathe again.
I stretched a hand up to my throat, and luckily the wound had begun healing already.
Guess who’s back. Back again.
Oh, thank God. ‘Hey Luca. Thanks for saving my ass.’
You know damn well I'd let you die if it wasn’t for our demon bind. He took a brief pause. But it’s good to see you breathing, friend.
I got off the floor, before looking down at Faron. By the looks of it, he’d lost a lot of blood. I flipped him around and saw that his wrist had been slit on both his arms.
Shit, this looks bad. We need to get him to the doctor as fast as possible.
Luca infused my legs with demonic energy, and I was able to run at an insane past over to the doctor’s office.
“Randy! Someone’s tried to kill Faron!”
Randy, the doctor, looked up from his reception desk with a shocked expression. “Jesus christ, get him on the bed!” He said, before putting on an apron. I dashed into the operation room, trying to keep pressure on Faron’s wounds.
Not longer than two seconds later, Randy was in the room. “Okay, just keep applying pressure like that...” he said, before immediately beginning to stitch Faron’s wrists together. “Whoever did this wanted it to look like suicide.”
After around half an hour of helping Randy, he’d finally dismissed me. I looked down at myself and saw I was completely drenched in blood.
I need to get this off me.
Alex POV
The water broke. Oh god, the water broke! What should I do?
‘Dawn, tell Faron that the water broke...’
There was a brief moment of silence.
Omen isn’t answering. What happened to them?
Oh no. What do I do, what do I do? Suddenly the cramps began, and I let out an ear-shattering scream.
Almost on-queue, I heard the front door slam open. Someone was climbing the stairs, on their way up toward me.
I turned my head and made eye contact with David.
“Are you okay Alex?” He asked me with a horrified look on his face.
“The water broke. The water broke!” I said, biting back another scream as another cramp hit me.
“Fuck, fuck, okay I'll get you to Randy, just hang on!”
He picked me off the floor, and ran out of the house, down the street. Before long, I found myself lying on a doctor’s bed. “Randy was busy with another patient apparently, so uhm... Just tell me if you need anythin-” His words were cut short by another scream from me as another cramp hit. “Just get the fucking doctor in here!!!” David nodded frantically and ran out of the room.
20 seconds later, Randy entered the room looking like he’d bathed in blood. “Alex, just keep pushing!” He said, before stripping me naked. I was a little ashamed, but it didn’t match the level of pain I felt in the moment. “RANDY IT FUCKING HURTS!” I screamed, as another cramp hit me.
Randy got in-between my legs and started telling me encouraging words. “David, get a hamper in here quick, and put a blanket in it!” David nodded and exited the room again.
“Alex, listen to my voice. The baby is almost out, just one more push and we’re there!” I nodded and gave one more push. The pain was unbearable, but I clenched my teeth shut.
“It’s a girl!” Randy exclaimed, before giving the newborn a good slap on the butt. It started wailing in full volume, which was a healthy sign.
“Angel.” I said, putting the child close to my chest. It seemed to calm down a little, and Randy cut the umbilical cord.
When I thought it was all over, another cramp struck me, and I screamed out. Randy, quick to act, grabbed the baby off my chest and put her into the Hamper David had gotten before getting in-between my legs again. David stormed out of the room, probably off to get another hamper.
“You’re a very lucky woman, Alex! Not many women have twins!”
I sure didn’t feel lucky! I screamed as another cramp hit me.
Randy continued to cheer me onward, and before long another baby had emerged. “It’s a boy!” He said, giving the newborn the same treatment as the young girl. It wailed out, another good sign of a healthy newborn.
“Johnny.” I thought about the two male names I and Faron had decided on, before deciding on the latter option.
Randy put the baby onto my chest, but it sure as hell didn’t calm down. It wailed out in full volume for all to hear, almost as if saying ‘hello world, I'm here now!’
I let out a tear of happiness. “Is it over, doctor?” I asked Randy with some worry in my voice.
Randy was just about to answer, when another cramp hit me. I screamed out in pain again. Just how many fucking babies were in this belly??
Randy pulled the infant off me and got into position once again. “Keep pushing Alex! You can do it!”
A few moments and a lot of pain later, Randy had another little human in his hands. “Female!” he exclaimed, before the baby cried out all on its own. Maybe it’d heard the slaps its siblings received, and didn’t want to share the same fate?
“Lily.” I said, caressing the little lady’s head. She fell asleep on my chest. Randy cut her umbilical cord.
“That’s the last one. You’re a very lucky lady, Alex! Triplets! Can you imagine?”
I let out a tired laugh, before collapsing onto the bed, tired.
When I finally regained some strength, I asked Randy a very important question. “Where’s Faron?”
