Prologue

Darkness surrounds him as the light that was once bright shrinks and fades while falling into the abyss. His heart and soul is still filled with intense rage and confusion.

‘Why? I don’t get it. Why? Why is this happening to me?’

His body sprawled out mid air as he continuously falls into the seemingly unending abyss.

‘...New Age’s Demon King? Heretic? How? Why? They didn’t even explain the reason why. I didn’t even do anything bad. I'm just doing my job just like the others. But for some reason, I was treated as If I committed great evil.’

As he tried to figure out the reason why he was treated as if he committed the greatest crime in the world, he finally gave up. He placed his hand to cover his eyes, trying to stop the tears from flowing out of his eyes.

No other sounds can be heard in the cold dark abyss. Only the strong wind that is created by his fall and his own inner thoughts. As he fell, he gritted his teeth and he made a vow that will eventually turn the world upside down.

‘Ha… Haha…. Hahahaha. The Gods want me to be the Demon King so badly?... Then so be it.’

Akuya Nise, a 22 year old guy who works on many different jobs. He is the ninth child among his 15 siblings. He was a very positive kid and was always good at school as a child. But, because he is in such an odd position in his family, he was often forgotten and eventually got neglected by his irresponsible parents. As a result, his positive demeanor gradually turned gloomy.

Because he has a lot of siblings, his irresponsible parents only gave them the bare minimum of the basic necessities that they needed. As a result he failed to attain his dream to get into his dream university to become an Engineer.

But, despite only finishing highschool, he resolved to work hard as a freeter to save up money and pay for University. He managed to save up a little money and finally decided to move out of his parent’s suffocating home.

He rented a small gloomy room in a small apartment complex. The room that he will live in looks as if it's held up with only hopes and dreams. Creaking chipped wooden floor, torn ceiling, a very humid smell and walls that are so thin that he may be able to hear his neighbors’ breathing. Fortunately, he didn’t find any mold or bugs crawling around in his room which was a stroke of luck considering the state of the place he will now call home.

Despite the state of the room, he didn’t complain as this is the only room his money can afford.

As a freeter who works on different types of jobs, he not only earned some money from it, but he also gained a wide variety of knowledge out of all the jobs he took; from Cooking to Carpentry.

One night, after an exhausting day. He grabbed a volume of his favorite Light Novel from his shelf that he has already read countless times and plopped down on his Sofa that he also used as a bed.

He loved the book very much as it was his only way to escape the harsh reality of his life. He wished that he would get summoned by a goddess of a fantasy world of sword and magic and go on an adventure.

Because of his exhaustion, he only managed to read a few pages from the book that he’s reading before his eyes started to close shut on their own.

(Murmur- murmur)

Akuya, who was enjoying his time on the land of dreams, got pulled back to reality half awake as he started to hear people murmuring. It was probably his neighbors talking on the other side of the apartment’s thin walls.

The murmurs got so noisy that an urge to beat up his neighbors to make them quiet bubbled up in his furious heart. But, he couldn’t do anything about it. He has no energy nor courage to tell his neighbor to be quiet because he doesn’t know what kind of people are living in this rundown place. So he decided to ignore it as best as he could and tried to fall back to sleep.

The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.

As he was about to fall asleep again, he felt someone shaking his shoulder.

“Hey, Mister. Mister, wake up.”

Akuya rented his room for only one person which was himself, and he wasn’t able to make any friends as he always kept switching jobs; so there shouldn’t be anyone in his room but him. He quickly let out a pathetic squeal as he placed his arms in front of him to shield his body and face, eyes still shut tight.

“Hey, you finally woke up. I almost thought that the summoning killed you.”

‘Summoning? Being killed? Huh?’ These sudden words confused his half awake mind.

“Wh- who are you?... And why are you in my room!? Summoning? Me almost being killed? Are you the noisy neighbor?”

As his mind starts to function again; he remembered that earlier, he felt the urge to beat up his neighbor because they were noisy. But, he swore that he only kept those dangerous thoughts to himself. But if that was the case, then why is he in his room?

Not sure if he actually did it or not, he made a perfect dogeza to beg for their forgiveness.

“I- I- I'm sorry for what I did!!! I was so exhausted at work that I wasn’t able to think properly!”

As he pathetically begged for forgiveness, the person let out a confused question.

“H-huh? Why are you apologizing?”

Akuya, still in dogeza position, raised his head to look at the person talking. As his blurry vision became clear, he focused his sight at the figure in front of him.

It was a boy who’s age looks like he’s around high school. The boy has blonde hair that looks unkempt, bloody red eyes and sharp pointy teeth. Inspecting the boy’s appearance further, he noticed that the boy is wearing what seems to be his school uniform.

‘A boy? How the heck did he get inside of my room?’

Akuya broke his perfectly formed dogeza and raised his body. As he focused on the sight in front of him, his gloomy apartment now looks like the interior of a castle with massive stone pillars and torches that have blue flames illuminating the dark surrounding with soft blue light. A giant golden door with ornamental carvings can also be seen in the room.

‘W-what the?’

Seeing Akuya’s confused expression. The boy let out a grin and said

“You’re probably confused as to where you are huh? Well, that’s expected. Let me tell you what happened”

Akuya hearing the boy’s words nodded multiple times.

“Well, I don’t know exactly how it was for you. But for me, I was putting away things inside our school’s storage room when the ground below me started to glow bright. When I opened my eyes, I was no longer inside our school’s storage room, instead I found myself inside this Grand Hall with multiple other people who apparently also experienced the same thing.”

As he listened to the boy’s words, he looked around the unfamiliar surroundings he was in. There are approximately 30 people in total, including him and the boy in front of him.

“Look below us. The yellow light was the bright light that I saw before I got here. It looks like a magic circle, just like those in manga. That’s when I made the conclusion that we probably got summoned and transported to another world!”

Akuya looked down on the smooth stone floor and there was indeed a magic circle emitting a yellow glow.

He can’t believe what he’s seeing rightnow, he thought he’s probably still sleeping and none of this was real. He rubbed his eyes and slapped his face with both hands. As he felt the stinging pain in his reddened cheeks, he finally accepted that this was real.

“My name is Hiro, Umeno Hiro! And I'm gonna become this fantasy world’s Hero! What’s your name?”

Hiro held his left hand on his hip and raised his right hand up, pointing his thumb to himself in an exaggerated fashion while flashing a grin exposing his sharp teeth.

“I-Im Akuya, Akuya Nise.”

As they introduced each other’s names. The Giant Golden door opened, letting out a loud thump that reverberated around the hall. The loud crowd before was now gone as the Golden door in front of them opened wide.

It was then, a figure of two people clad in pearl white armor walked out from the majestic golden door. Each step they make creates metallic sounds as parts of their armor hits each other.

Clank! Clank! Clank!

The two knights parted ways and positioned themselves on each side of the golden door. It was then, a figure of an old man with a long white beard reaching his toes came out.

At close inspection, the Old man looks very old as he has a serious amount of wrinkles on his skin. He has long pointy ears and Amber colored eyes, wearing what seems to be a Priest outfit based on his fancy looking robe and Mitre that he’s wearing.

“Oh mighty heroes from another world! We humbly request your aid and power to save our Kingdom from destruction!”

The Old man raised both of his hands up as if reaching the sky. A bright yellow glow emanates around the Old man. And then he placed his right arm on his chest and made a firm bow.

“I am Freid Mercatos XIII, a humble servant of our mighty God Zoroban and the head leader of the Holy Church of Zoroban. Our God answered our prayers by letting us perform the Holy Summoning Ceremony to gather heroes from another world and fight the Demon Lord’s forces.”

Akuya, who was listening among the crowd, widened his eyes in disbelief as he watched the spectacle happening in front of him.

‘No way… No way right? Is this really happening right now?’

As Akuya pondered the reality of the situation he was in, his body started to shake. Hiro, who was beside him, noticed Akuya and whispered.

“Hey Akuya-kun, are you ok?”

Akuya, who was still trembling; looked down as if he was about to blow up. It was then.

“FUCK YEAAAAAHHH!!!”

Akuya let out a loud joyful scream, surprising the people around him and the Priest Freid. The Knights who were guarding the door, grabbed the hilt of their sword preparing for an attack.

Hiro, who was beside him, was also startled.

“H-hey! What’s wrong with you?”

Hiro looked back at Freid and the two knights who were emitting an intimidating aura with a nervous smile.

“Y-y-your highness o-or your Grace. I'm very sorry for my friend’s disrespectful action here. He was still feeling unwell because of the summoning.”

Hiro, who was scared, whispered to Akuya to shut up.

Akuya, who was still ecstatic, clenched his fist and looked up at the ceiling.

‘No way! I really got summoned into another world!!’
