A little over an hour later, after quite a few shared chuckles between the mother bunny and the young lad and some groaning form the older daughter, Rush joined in the four with a short huff as Lily set out a fresh pitcher of carrot and turnip juice with a zest of lime.
"Done." the bunny addressed his mother with a grin and partly serious salute.
Clare gestured the energetic bunny to sit and have some of the juice which he gladly did with his usual quick pace.
"Hey kid, does Dale still call you that nickname?" the question replied with a defeated nod "Ah well, Carrots it is then. So you going to sleep here or will you be staying at the shop again?"
"The large orders are already done and aside from the maintenance jobs, the only thing I'm really working on is the my personal project." Felnar said ang gaining a excited look form Rush and gaining a firm hug from Lily with her chest on the side of shoulder and her arms around his neck.
In almost a whisper the younger lady bunny said, "It's still too soon."
"Oh! I thought you'd do that after a year or two more? You're still young in context to either sides to your heritage and all. I think its about twice the for the elf and you're around two-thirds for a dwarf?" pulling from her prior knowledge and experiences.
"Well I did grow up here but I do remember a bit from the stories mom and dad told me about their respective traditions. I think it's about 40 for an elf and around 30 for dwarves and well to beastkin and humans I'm already at 3 years past full grown at 19." The young lad had recounted and grinning at the bunny hugging his neck and eliciting a full blush of the cheeks.
"W-well I'm already an adult too." came a slight stutter from Lily.
"Don't forget about me!" a lively follow up Rush.
"Yeah you two are already fine adults for 2 months now, you can even do equal mom in amount of work output." Glen remarked with half-sarcastic and half encouraging tone.
"Oh! Baby don't tease your siblings like that. I know you take more to your father in more ways than one and them to me but remember we run a family business. Okay?" Clare said as part joke and part reproach to all three of the younger bunnies.
"Yes mom" in unison the trio replied all backing down which clearly showed the mother bunny's position over the three. All the while, Felnar trying his best to stifle a grin that the trio failed to notice and was mirrored by Clare as she had noticed his effort.
"Well enough of that you two still have some stock to bring back to the shop before closing up." Clare urging the two apprentices back to their duties.
"Come one Fel, let's get this done. I want to get back here before sunset." Glen quickly recovering from the previous situation.
Felnar nodded and then turned back to Lily which was now easing in her own seat. "Don't worry I won't be going anywhere without telling you all."
"Yeah and if you do I know Dasha would kindly inform me whenever you are in Goran's care." Clare digging up the almost regular jail vacations the young lad spent.
This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.
Felnar simply laughed, "Well at least you know I would be in capable hands."
Rush simply smiled as Lily had a look of concern on her face, while Glen was shaking her head and their mother was laughing heartily along with the Felnar.
"Go on and get back here by dinner. And I insist that you stay here for the night Felnar." the whole statement started jovial and ended menacingly as Clare had emphasized her words with a strong look to the young lad.
"Yes ma'am." was Felnar's response with drooping of the points on his ears and Glen quickly pulling him out.
The two were now walking back with their positions changed as Felnar now pulled the cart along as Glen was matching his pace.
"Its been a while since I last saw mom 'insist' on something." Glen said with a shudder of fear on the end.
"Me too. Last time I saw that was when were deciding between both orders and Clare 'insisted' to the representatives that we would take the total 30 sets each order both at the same time instead of handing it to another shop." Felnar to shuddering at the end as he recalled the 'persuasive' methods implored by the older bunny he recognizes as family.
"That reminds me. The pick up for the orders would come in three days. How about you and that project when would that be done?" Glen trying to get more info out of the young lad.
"I plan to get it done in about the same time." he said plainly
"Huh? What!? But I haven't seen anything in the shop even when you were gone." her sudden response betraying her curiosity and apparent snooping while he was away.
"Hmmmm..." was the only sound the he made as a smirk formed on his lips as only a slight level of exertion could be seen on his face.
"I knew something like this would happen so I made preparations before hand so that no one would ruin the surprise." he said while giving a soft and short chuckle and Glen feeling a little miffed and guilty with blurting out her actions.
"Well at least I get a break tonight before putting the finishing touches for the big reveal. I'm also really excited to have some more of Clare and Lily's cooking." he stated to no one in particular.
And true to his word he returned with the father-daughter pair and had dinner with the people he calls family and turned in for the night in the guest room near the cellar doors. He lay his head on the pillow atop the bed that was now only barely able to hold his full height and he looked back to a decade when he first called this house his new home.
The next day Felnar was early to rise as he readied to make his way to the tanner cum tailor's cellar when he noticed that Clare was already preparing breakfast which was a stew of vegetables and some hard bread. He decided to help set the table and shortly was greeted with the sight of the two sisters making their way down already dressed for the day ahead. Clare motioned for both of them to the table and told Lily to call Rush down and for Glen to call Dale up from the cellar which had surprised Felnar as the patriarch bunny was already holding a rolled up bundle under his arm.
They then all had a happy and simple breakfast together as a thought that had long come and gone in Felnar's head had returned. He had always cherished this family he had even before he started living with them but there was always the thought of the source of his heritage and the only few memories he had of the teachings his mother and father had taught him.
The days passed and the cleints' representative had arrived at the smithy around the time as the sun was at its peak in the the sky.
A cloak covered the person from head to the back and ended only slightly before reaching the ground. A pair of clawed hands covered in vambraces deftly pulled the hood down to reveal a mane of fine green hair that reached the bottom of the hood and green feathers continued after that. The claws on the hand resembled talons on a bird of prey with yellowish scaled skin covering the forearms and this was mirrored on the feet of the person as much larger talons adorned the place where toes would have been and the same skin had covered the whole of the lower legs. A plain brown shirt whose sleeves were rolled up to the elbows and pants extending only to just below the knees clothed the figure. Instead of a beak, a mouth with an easy and pleasing smile, albeit sharp teeth, could be seen on a face most races would call handsome.
The figure simply signaled for his driver-less wagon to move to the rear of the show and two burly beasts of burden had seemingly dipped their heads and obeyed the gesture with a clear amount of intellect and understanding.
"It has been a while sire of the "Orefist' and the 'Quickflecther'." the figure simply mused himself.
