A Gladiator's New World Chapter 15: Cry

Chapter 15: Cry

The tension in the room was high, no one said anything in response to Fang. Everyone had their own thoughts on the matter but because it was a conversation with the king no one could easily say anything.

King Balford thought for a moment and decided to go about this a different way. His, opponent, as one could put it was a child and if intimidation didn’t succeed then the next best method was through his parents.

Fang’s father, High general Tal, was under his empty so the king believed that he would be able to acquire the blood tome in a reasonable amount of time.

The only reason he was able to stay level headed and tolerate the rudeness and disrespect shown to him was because he was in a private area where he could somewhat ignore his pride.

If he were in the audience chambers and his ministers were around then he would not be able to let the disrespect of the boy go. It the worst case senecio the dwarven kingdom would be at war with the blood elf and her companions while most likely missing their high general.

“Hahaha boy you show promise and have the stubbornness any dwarf would be proud of. But let me warn you not to disrespect a king in this way, as your father is my most respected general I will let this go for now.”

With a wave of his hand he dismissed Fang and the high general. On their way out of the palace Tal was sweating bullets from the war and needless massacre that was just avoided.

“Fang from now on you need to think about the way you answer others. I won't tell you to just give up your possessions when someone of higher authority commands it but the way you decline is important, luckily the king wants to avoid a war with your mother and her friends.”

Seeing that his son just nodded in response Tal could only sigh hoping that he understood. Other than that he was laughing on the inside at the childish way that Fang had fought against the king.

After all using your clothes and sword as a makeshift whip was something he believed only a child could think of.

_____________

Tal walked once more into the the king’s private meeting area, kneeling he respectfully greater his king.

“Strang General, I've asked you here today to have you undertake something most important… Getting straight to the point that book your son has could very well be something that puts our kingdom at the top. While I have no desire to conquer the rest of the world does not ignore our presence with many human nations looking to enslave us. With your son’s blood tome we could have peace of mind, so get the information out of him. You are dismissed.”

Having finished hearing his king Tal walked out. The king seemed rather irritated and he had good reason, as much as he could be considered a good natured man, one couldn’t expect a king to take disrespect lightly.

_______________

It had been two years since Fang had fought with the prince. In this tie his father had, on multiple occasions attempted to get the method of creating a blood tome from him.

Unfortunately Fang knew that it would end up with the king and wouldn’t give up the information. His mother was also greatly interested in the blood tome but not enough to attempt to make one of her own, she was determined to reach the Saint level and become much stronger than she already was.

Aside from the blood tome the only other notable thing was Fang’s ki refinement. In the two years since his fight with the prince Fang’s ki core had grown considerably, and although it could only be considered slightly better than average this didn’t bother Fang one bit. Currently he was preparing to start circulating ki in his body.

‘Master just start. Actually you should have started two years ago, I mean sure it did get considerably bigger but by now you could have already comprehended a law. Think about it all a larger core does is give you more ki, and having a smaller one isn’t a bro let if you win fights quickly and efficiently.’

While he believed that East made a valid point he didn’t think that she was entirely right. ‘And if anything you have me here. I'm I'm the greatest.’

Because in their recent spars Fang was not able to beat East, who could not only cast level three spells without worry she was also at the ki imitation stage, she had grown rather arrogant.

“No and now that the five years are up I am going to reach that level quickly.”

Fang had great confidence in this, in his previous life he had been able to turn mana into lightning, so reaching the third level of ki refining shouldn’t be a problem.

“Fang! Get down here!”

Hearing his mother call Fang knew that she wanted to be there when he took his next step into Ki refining and measure the strength he would have. When he reached the small garden outside of his house his mother and father were waiting for him.

‘Fang remember to try and only use the ki of ashes in front of others. If you use your other element than being an unknown thief will become difficult.’ Agreeing with East Fang prepared to show his parents his strength.

“Okay, now that you're here your father will have a little spar with you and you'll have to do his every day until you adjust to the new strength that circulating ki gives you. For that you can just continue sparing with East.”

Nodding to his mother's words Fang stood across from his father.

“Fang first feel the ki in your core, that shouldn’t be difficult considering you've been refining it non stop for the last five years. Then move it around your body, because your core is a decent size you shouldn’t have much problems with prolonged battles, it's also important to know when your ki is running low and how much should be used at a time.”

Because his father was a fairly accomplished ki refiner Fang had no doubts in his words, they were also things that he himself had already thought of for many years. Seeing that her husband had given Fang appropriate instructions Luna nodded towards both of them and gave the signal to start.

Fang from the beginning knew that obtaining victory would be no easy feat and was prepared to lose, regardless he would give it his all.

Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

Circulating his ki to his eyes and legs, Fang dashed forward with incredible speed. He was at least twice as fast as he had been before he was allowed to circulate ki.

Because of the increase Tal expected Fang to lose to his own momentum but Fang was prepared for this and had already increased his dynamic vision and reaction time by circulating ki in his eyes.

When he was close enough fang waved his arm, Tal and Luna were expecting him to reach for his sword but received a large shock when Fang was able to emit his ki throwing up clumps of dirt and grass to obstruct Tal’s sight.

Fang believed that winning with a frontal assault would be impossible but if he struck from the side and with a surprise attack it might very well be possible.

He would try to win using two methods one was a surprise attack launched after shocking his father with the use of ki emission. Taking out his sword Fang attempted to strike from his father’s flank.

Tal however, although surprised, was in no way unprepared. With a simple backstep Tal was able to dodge Fang’s sword attack. Fang was expecting this and did not falter runing ki evenly throughout his body Fang began an onslaught of sword attacks, his relentless bombardment was not his final plan.

While he kept his father’s attention on his sword by displaying many erratic sword techniques that are generally hard to follow Fang silently moved his ki from his body to the ground and changed its form to that of ashes.

This showed that he had reached the third level of ki refinement after only just completing his five years of creating his core. While Tal knew that Fang was spreading his ki he didn’t notice it change into the form of ashes, even if he did he would not be too worried as ashes in and of themselves had little attack potential.

The change however had not escaped the sight of Luna who was the acting referee for the little spar.

Which Fang overwhelming sword skills and his ability to emit ki he could already be considered a genius but now that he had reached the third ki refining level the only word that could describe his was abnormal.

But regardless of what one decided to call him she was happy that her son had so much potential.

Having completed his preparations Fang used the scattered ash ki creating a vast field of ashes making it appear as if the small guarded was filled with smoke, inside this field his father's vision and other senses would be obstructed while he could use his connection to his ki to feel everything.

With this new advantage fang was now able to put up a better fight surprising his father multiple times with strikes coming from different locations.

However Fang was running low on ki, despite having a decent sized core, it’s ki was not refined any further and could not sustain the constant use of both ki emission and ki transformation for extended periods of time.

Gathering all the ashes he had made Fang condensed it into a greatsword. His father was clearly surprised but kept his sword raised, with his remaining ki Fang dashed holding the sword in hand. Both fighters prepared for one final strike, Tal raised his wooden sword while prepared for a horizontal swing. Before the two could clash Fangs sword had already begun to disappear slowly losing its form to the wind.

When the two clashed swords Tal felt no resistance as he dissipated the sword in one swing, this however was what fang was aiming for as he revealed a knife made from ash in his hand replacing the large sword. With the knife fast on it’s way to Tal’s chest he let out a small sigh. In an instant fang was pushed back by an unseen force.

Looking up at his father Fang realized that the force that had stopped him from winning was his father’s ki revolving around acting as a protective shield.

“Hahaha, good Son you’ve done good. Better than I could have thought possible. Hahaha. Oh son this is a day for…”

“Waaaaaaa!” Before he could finish the cry of a child was heard and fang, accompanied by East, quickly rand inside their home. Inside he found a fairly large boy who had seemingly fallen crying.

“Mathias don’t cry here.”

Fang pick up the boy gently and placed him on his feet. The boy was Mathias Warreaver, Fang’s younger brother. Although his frame was larger than any other child his age Mathias was only two and just starting to walk around, contrary to his name and build he seemed to be quite sensitive and would often cry from little falls.

Tal and Luna sat back and watched as Fang attempted to clear up their second son. This was something that always brought a smile to their faces.

Fang was normally very distant to others aside from their immediate family and East making him seem odd and a bit cold but to his younger brother anyone seeing him would think that he was a doting older brother.

“Fen pay.”

Hearing that Mathias wanted to play Fang couldn’t say no and told his parents that his would play with his brother for a while and continue sparing later, besides his ki had run out and it would be impossible to continue at this moment.

Because of this small scene Tal and Luna had momentarily forgotten to ask Fang how he had been able to reach the third ki refining level so easily.

(Author's note: so I'll be honest I don't remember if I had previously said anything about the fact that he would have a sibling at some point but it was in my notes so I added it if it was can someone tell me, I'm going to go back and look tonight but if someone just happens to know that would be appreciated. Other than that if it was or wasn't I'll fix it somehow. He's important to the later plot, maybe. He could be. Anyway thanks for reading and have a happy day. I'm going to finish up with this whole childhood ark at around chapter 20ish so after that I'll have him do other stuff cause he'll be older. I only say this cause someone asked )
