Her fingers tremble.
She never knew the extent of the incident until this moment. Most, if not all, of the content that was produced by the suspect was all about her. As her hand slowly and nervously guides the cursor to a link that caught her eye. A link with a disturbing description that makes her worry about her own security.
If she still even has one.

-A blurry camera is capturing a young girl sitting on the far side of the room. She looks like she was playing a guitar as her faint voice barely gets captured by the camera.-
Nica quickly exits the video and looks towards her closet. There is a shelf beside it holding numerous books as she wonders where could such a hidden device be. She approached the shelf to try and search for its whereabouts but there was nothing on it that could contain a camera. Everything on the shelf were books and nothing more.
She opens them. One by one just to make sure. But despite her efforts, none was found.
Then she got an idea.
Or rather,
A disturbing thought.
She rushed back to her computer and exited back to the front page. Once back, she clicked on a different link.

…
…
Goosebumps flood her skin.
She was now looking at a mirror.
Her eyes reflect her.
Reflect her.
Reflecting her.
The image of a young supple young lady, repeating infinitely into a rabbit hole as the images get smaller and smaller until all becomes obscure.
Slowly she turns her head.
She spots where it could be.
‘Hello?’
[Hello?]
It answered back.
‘So you can hear me?’
[So you can hear me?]
She stands and approaches the area where she suspects it could be.
‘You like watching me?’
[You like watching me?]
She said as she approached, making sure she swayed her hips as she moved with grace.
Her hands move towards her shirt as she unbuttons it slowly.
‘Is this what you want to see?’
[Is this what you want to see?]
‘Too bad.’
[Too b--]
…
…
‘Nica?’
‘Nica?!!’
A loud banging noise started wreaking havoc inside Nica’s room as her Mother rushed over, concerned about what was happening as bursts through the door to find her daughter hunched over her dresser holding what remains of her guitar in her hand.
‘Sorry mom…’ Nica said out of breath. ‘There was a spider and--’
‘Are you okay? Did it bite you?’
‘N-no… It just startled me mom… Really I...I’m okay…’
Her mother just stares back, sensing something but couldn’t quite put her finger on it.
‘Honey, your guitar…’
‘Ye-yes… I’m sorry… I was so scared it was the first thing I grabbed…’
‘Okay…’ She answered, still feeling concern for her daughter. ‘Let’s get this cleaned up then--’
‘No.’ She quickly replied. ‘I’ll be fine, I’ll fix this myself mom, no worries….’
‘Are you sure?’
‘Yes… just call me when dinner’s ready…’ She said. As her mother nods, exiting her room.
Nica just stares at the havoc that she made. The camera was an unsuspecting pen that laid about on her dresser. She didn’t know where it came from but after identifying it she became overcome by anger that her body responded by smashing it to pieces. She was surprised that she had reacted the way she did, but as her feelings compose and her thoughts went clear, she remembers why she had acted the way she did.
After years of feeling like she didn’t belong, this was the first time she felt home. She specifically requested the school principal to keep the issue from reaching her parents as she didn’t want to move again and lose the friends she had made in school. It was a good thing she was backed by Yukino in this matter, using her name to assure that everything would be settled privately as per Nica’s wishes. Although in the back of her mind she had no clue on how to resolve this scandal.
The discovery of the website didn’t help her cause, after an anonymous sender sent her the link and her discoveries only made her feel like she was on the losing side, as she felt the fear and despair upon knowing that she might have to leave once more.
Tears started rolling down her cheeks the more she thought about the outcome. Still, she thought that it wasn’t too late. As long as she keeps her will strong, she will be fine even if her only solution for now is to just ride out the storm.
Another thought came into her mind and this time, she felt guilty for thinking so.
She retrieves her phone in the middle of the rubble.
(Denzo?)
(Yea?)
(You feeling ok?)
….................
…
It was a grey breezy afternoon and Pete found himself alone inside his room. He lives alone in his own apartment but Tisha usually comes over during these hours, especially on the weekends when they had no classes.
Coincidently, they had no classes today as the principal declared a one week suspension of classes to give police some time to investigate the situation.
He tried calling Tisha that morning but she didn’t pick up. She hasn’t returned any of his calls so far and it was making him feel lonely. Yesterday at the assembly it was a big shock to everyone seeing what had happened to Nica but it was a bigger surprise that she took the incident calmly as she never budged where she stood even when everybody’s curious eyes were on her.
Including his.
Which might or might not have been caught by Tisha.
Either way, she wasn’t answering and he felt that he should just let things by naturally and move on with his day. So he thought he’d take a walk to get his mind off of things, after all the weather is perfect for a stroll as the sun wasn’t at full force to burn his skin to a crisp.
His apartment building was only a few blocks away from the vicinity of Block six one six, in the tourist district of Pasay, and because he was near he had thoughts of visiting Aida for a couple of drinks but he thought it might make Tisha more suspicious if he did so he abandoned the idea. The other alternative he could think of was to visit the sea.
Though it was still a long walk to get to the coast, the effort didn’t matter as the solitude of the stroll eased his mind. The spot he wanted to visit is actually a breakwater at the edge of the manila bay harbor called Palisoc Circle. A small piece of breakwater at the very edge of the harbor where anyone can get a 360 view of the whole marina behind and the horizon beyond. He was hoping to see the sunset there but the clouds were relentless and kept the sun blanketed above, still it was a perfect place to find some solace.
Nothing much was happening in his life which was just the way he wanted it. He had done all his bruising and fighting during his younger years and it was nice that so far he’d only had one fight during this year and as far as he knew, nothing was about to come springing in the horizon. He had done it all, running around fighting people for principle or supremacy, and it was all good until it all lost its meaning when he met Tisha.
Or rather, when he “fought” Tisha.
During those times he was part of a fraternity called Omega Epsilon Mu.
“No Gods, No Masters. Freedom in Inequality and Tyranny in Equality”
They were lawless anarchists that didn’t abide with anyone’s rules except their own. The strong see them as a nuisance and the weak fear them.
Known for their extremist views, they were equal in their inequality and treated everyone who did not see their ways, as living trash and would trample them in their wake.
And their biggest foe was Tisha’s administration.
It was one of the longest years in his life and trying to disband and weaken Tisha’s administration proved difficult. Eventually Tisha succeeded and it resulted in Pete finding a middle ground with her views as he finally saw Omega's ruling as oppressive and left the group.
Another reason was because they fell in love.
And ever since then his life has been quiet.
Too quiet.
Is it good? Is it bad?
He doesn’t know. But he didn’t hope to find the answers now.
All he wanted to do was to relax and so he did.
When the sun was setting he decided to go back before the street lamps lit up. He checks his phone once again for any sign of Tisha’s reply but his inbox remains as it was. Still feeling the need for solitude, Pete decides to take the long route back, passing by the abandoned theme park on the way to his apartment.
He heard some activity from beyond the fences which sparked his curiosity, there had never been anything around this area for years now and he decided to check out what was going on. He hears the sounds of what he thought was a chainsaw cutting down trees but upon arriving he saw something far more interesting from what he was imagining.
He hadn’t been through this area recently but it wasn’t that long ago when he last passed through here and it was nothing more than a vacant lot with thick overgrowth. So one can imagine his surprise when suddenly there is some sort of a race track already built in the area and in the middle of it was a single little Go kart buzzing around the asphalt.
As he went near the track he spots a gap in the fence that looked like it was trespassed in for some reason and used it to gain an entry inside, careful not to trip over the broken road that laid just beyond it as he waved down the driver in the kart, hoping to get some information on what was going on.
The driver stopped right before where Pete stood and took his helmet off.
‘Pete? What are you doing here?’
The driver said.
Pete could only look back in confusion.
‘Denzo?...
What the fuck?’
…
...
‘Hey! No trespassing!’
A loud booming voice echoed from the garages as Val pointed towards Pete from afar. Pete was startled by the threat but soon recognized the voice as he squinted his eyes to better see who was behind the shouting.
‘Oh hey Val! Didn’t know you’re here!’ He shouted back. Val leaned forward to scope him from afar and gave him a come hither gesture while she ordered Denzo to park the kart.
‘What are you doing here?’ Val asked.
‘I was just walking by, then I heard things so I came over to see what’s up.’
‘You just came over? Were you aware this is a private property?’ Val said, seeing his reason as questionable.
‘Nnnnope… I’m finding out now…?’ He replied as Val took a deep breath trying to figure out what to do.
‘Doesn’t matter. Anyways, whatchu think of the place?’ She asked.
Pete looked perplexed as he looked around the garage trying to find something to say.
‘I dunno… I just got here.’
‘Alright. Ya know how to drive?’
‘Kinda?’
‘Good enough. Denzo!’
Denzo was getting mechanic lessons from J2 when he heard Val’s call. Funnily enough, he almost lost a bolt when Val broke his concentration while trying to insert it. A common occurrence which he has struggled getting used to.
‘What is it?’ He grumpily responds.
‘Get another kart ready and race Pete.’
‘What?’
‘Must I repeat?’ Val replies with an eyebrow raised as Denzo grumbled in reply. Pete meanwhile was holding in his laugh as he followed him down to the garage, getting into both of their machines and running some laps around the track.
‘What’s with that?’ J2 asked as Val climbed down the stairs from the mezzanine.
‘What’s what?’ She replies.
‘You putting that kid in the kart all of a sudden?’
‘Oh… nothing, just an impulse.’ She said as she takes out her cigarette and lights up a smoke.
‘Wow, so random…’ J2 reacts as he goes back into wrenching the Kart he and Denzo were working on.
‘Well he did find the place.’ Val continued. ‘So I figured, might as well show him what this was about. Who knows he might get hooked, free advertising. Get it?’
‘I suppose…’ He replies, still unsure of Val’s judgement. ‘But we’re still closed cuz of the vandals. Dunno what good advertising our place would do.’
Val just smiles as she takes another puff from her cigarette. ‘Oh I’m not rushing.’ She answers.
‘What are you planning?’ J2 asked, squinting his eyes in suspicion.
‘Whaddya mean what? You were there when I made the damn phone call!’ Val snarks at him as she walks by, keeping her eyes on the two karts darting around the track. ‘I want you to post the detes tonight on the web schedule. It’s an official race.’ She continued, J2 just looked at her as he thought about the events that were to unfold.
‘So you organized this on a whim? No meetings with the drivers like the last time?’ He asked.
‘Yes… No need for a meeting, it’s a mountain pass course where I know everyone has raced in. There was no need to meet them about the route. Just show up and wait for the flag drop.’ She replied nonchalantly, taking a puff from her cigarette.
‘So you’re saying we’ll be busy this weekend so no rush?’
‘And the next… Maybe…’
‘Val! Two weeks?!’ J2 nervously raised his voice, prompting her to give him a death stare.
‘What? Aren’t you happy I gave you enough time? Besides I’m not sure yet…
It depends on what happens on the weekend.’ She said.
‘And we’re bringing the kid with us.
So find a way to get parental permission.
Don’t bother about the cops tho.’
‘What?!’
‘J2…’ She gives him another death stare as J2 could only sigh in despair. Once again he was tasked with something bothersome, making him miss the days when his only job was to lounge behind the counter inside Jack & Barry’s as Val gives him a pat on the shoulder passing by him on her way back to her office.
…
…
Hours have passed.
What was supposed to be an hour walk turned into three as Pete unlocks the door to his apartment.
In his arms he carried his dinner inside a large paper bag. He made sure to stop by the KFC near his apartment building to buy some food as he hadn’t eaten yet. He sets them on his kitchen counter and heads straight to the bathroom for a shower.
In the midst of the various thoughts and reflections that flooded his mind while he bathed, he was still worried that Tisha had not replied. It had already been a full day of silence from her and it was making him agitated that she’s giving him the silent treatment. The walk and the kart drive surely took his mind off the problem during those moments but now that he’s back being on his own, the agitation was coming back.
Suddenly his phone rings.
Pete swiftly rushed out of the shower, not even bothering with wiping himself dry as he steps back into his room fully drenched as he tries to swipe his phone with his wet finger, failing to answer it as the call hangs up. He almost attempted to throw his phone out the window but he restrained himself, going back to the bathroom to get a towel and properly dried himself before checking his phone once again.
He never caught a glimpse of who the caller was as he was frantically trying to swipe, and the call ended soon after he had grabbed it so he thought to confirm who it was who had contacted him.
To his dismay it wasn’t Tisha. It is an old friend of his back in Omega.
Which is weird considering they hadn’t been talking for a while now.
A few minutes later he got another ring. It was a text message from the same person.
