Maximus /A
His team was gone. He didn't know where. Maximus hoped they would find him, he didn't know how to get out. His gut was unfortunately convinced the exit was in the same direction as the thing stalking him. It made very little noise, but he did the tracking. Usually thinking of the various ways he pulled his weight had him puffing his chest out in pride, but being alone and hunted in a cold, damp hole in the ground precluded any puffery.
Maximus kept hurrying away from the thing hunting him, hoping his team would get to him before it did.

Its brethren were sending gathering signals, the combat signals fading. It kept sending hunting signals as it followed the creature. There was no hurry, they were going deeper and the creature was wasting energy.
It would wait until the prey stopped moving, then it would dismember it.
The creature was slowing down already, so it started the first stage of the digestive system, which would give it saliva with corrosive properties.
