A young girl, Jenifer encounters two alliances brought on by her parents. The first alliance is that of a writer named Thomson who works at a publishing house to sustain his livelihood. Though a man of good extraction and great habits but earnings are paltry enough to lead an opulent life. The second guy is Johnson who is well-settled in life with all comforts galore. He is a senior computer programmer as well as a team leader with Multinational Corporation and hobnobs only with an elite class of the society.
Jenifer chalks out a plan to meet Thomson and Johnson in person separately to exchange views and thoughts and take decisions accordingly. Among the two, Thompson is attractive and good-looking, and not only this, he is cultivated, sober, and an intellectual also. Johnson is slightly bald, pot-bellied, and supercilious by nature. He is phlegmatic and business-minded and considers the disabled and mendicants as a curse to the flourishing society.
Despite struggling under the shadow of economic insecurity, Thompson is never cut out with life for being cruel and ruthless to him rather believes in enjoying every moment of life and considers dejections and disappointments as passing clouds. An Anglophone and liberal-minded Thomson is liked by one and all. Polished English phrases from his lips could attract anyone like a magnet towards iron. On contrary, Johnson is highly competitive, technically brilliant, and goal-oriented and considers failures equivalent to physically challenged people. He wouldn’t mind consigning his own employees to the bin either due to their abysmal performance or botched effort in the performance of official duties.

Finally, a day arrives when Jenifer meets Thomson at a coffee day restaurant and develops a tremendous sense of camaraderie and affection after spending 4-5 hours with him. She is allured by his physical appearance, behavior, and, emotional nature Lock, Stock, and Barrel.
“I will be the happiest person on the earth if betrothed to Thomson” thinks Jenifer and drives back to her home in a jubilant mood.
But she encounters an unexpected shock when Johnson along with his parents comes to her home to settle the match. Jenifer requests her parents to give her some room for breathing and ponder on this issue once.
