Kin woke up, like most days, on fire. After he stomped the final embers out of his bedsheets, Kin took a shower to wash the ash off. Then he brewed a fresh pot of coffee, for, in his humble opinion, a good day does not start until you have that first, bitter cup. For the second cup, he does indulge in sugar and creamer.
Having gotten dressed in jeans and a leather jacket, Kin left his condo on that hot, sunny day and walked to campus to see if anything was happening. As he walked, Kin watched the intermittent traffic, a mosaic of super cars, lux boards, and hover bikes. A couple times he would notice people flying by overhead. Having reached the north gate, Kin saw that the bottleneck was from people waiting for one of the digitizer spots to open, a few being blocked by parents that are unsure how long they will be on campus.
Through the gate, Kin stopped to appreciate the sight. On his right was the sleek design of the steel Business and Administration building, with large windows along the top to give a view of downtown Kuskatá. Towards the left was the large, shining tower that was the multi-floored cafeteria, where each floor contained different stores and restaurants. And in front of him, capturing Kin’s attention, was the ass of a girl.
As he approached her, Kin ogled. Ocean blue hair flowed down, past her ebony shoulders, to the middle of a navy tube top. Hips and upper thighs were covered by a tight pair of jean shorts, and Kin admired her long, dark legs as they went down to a sporty pair of white shoes. On her wrists, he saw dual, quartz vibe brands, in contrast to the cheap, copper one on his left arm. She had a bag of luggage on each side as she stared up at the eight-story tall academic building in front of both of them. As he passed her side, Kin noticed he was about a head taller and that the tube top was pulled over large breasts. Once he turned around to face her, Kin stared into her pair of iridescent blue eyes, where different shades were swirling around the pupil.
“Hey, what’s your name?”
“Oh, hi! My name is Mizu.”
“Kin. Are you looking for anything in particular?”
Mizu gave a big grin. “Actually, yes, can you help me find the female dorm hall? I was just wandering about, but I should probably go ahead and drop off my bags.”
“Sure, let me carry one of the bags while we walk,” Kin said as he smiled back.
Mizu thanked him for being so nice as they walked around the tall General Studies building and headed south. Kin pointed out the female hall was ahead on the right and asked what she would be studying.
“Biology,” she said, “because the body is just so cool! The different ways people’s bodies develop and handle their personal magic is so interesting! I once read an article that described how these two guys’ magics, which seemed to be the same flying ability, were actually completely different. One of them could use ambient magic particles to precisely change his buoyancy while the other...”

Kin loved listening to people talking. He felt he has learned so much more from people passionately talking about their interests than he did from high school. Kin made sure to keep a slow pace as they approached the hall so that Mizu would have plenty of time to express her fascination with magic theory and the central nervous center. It was not enough, for she was still going on by the time they reached the dorm.
“Oh, well, I suppose this is it.” Mizu turned and hugged Kin. ”Thank you so much for helping me with my bags and letting me ramble on.”
“No problem. We should hang out sometime, so what’s your vibe address?” Kin hugged back and thought she smelled faintly like an ocean breeze, though something was off. Her body felt oddly cool.
Mizu did not respond right away; instead, she continued the hug, having nestled her unheated head against his chest. Kin took the moment to appreciate her breasts pressing against him and placed a hand on her waist as he traced down her spine with his fingers. Right when Kin’s fingers reached the top of her shorts, Mizu let go and stepped back.
Her face was blushed when she quickly said her contact info, grabbed her bags, and ran inside the building. Kin stood there smiling, until he remembered to actually enter the information into his copper vibe brand. He sent a message so that Mizu would have his info; then, he turned and headed to see if anything was happening in either the Fitness or Student centers.
Having passed the dorms, where the males were on the opposite side of the walkway from the females, Kin walked south towards the opposing recreation centers - the Fitness center on the left, and the Student center on the right. The Student center was where the non-physical clubs and activities took place, so Kin went towards the Fitness center first. Inside, Kin stopped to respect the advanced equipment: density-adjustable bars in the weight room, the wall-and-ceiling rock wall, the configurable sports field, the floor-to-ceiling water room with a tunnel leading into the lake behind the building, the classic fighting ring, and the restaurant/gift shop mix that is in the corner right as you enter.
Having seen a small crowd, Kin headed towards the ring. Two large, muscular, shirtless men were fighting; the crowd was cheering them on, yelling to aim for the face. After he watched for a few minutes, Kin recognized that the guys made a no-power agreement, so he decided to go to one of the surrounding punching bags. They were customizable, magnetically-levitating bags, and a couple people were practicing punches and kicks. He saw one person had set up their bag to have someone’s face on it, while another had a hologram coaching them through their kicks. Kin ignored them and walked up to a bag and changed it to an average-height, black, heavy bag with an ‘Eternal’ logo. He did not bring his hand wraps or gloves, so he was planning to only throw some light punches to pass the time.
Right as he was thinking of moving on, someone tapped Kin’s shoulder. He turned to see a cat girl with amber-brown fur was talking to him.
“You seem pretty good, wanna help me win a bet?”
Kin smiled. “What’s the bet and what’s the reward?”
“Well, the bet is that those two,” she pointed towards the ring; the men were now in the same corner, drinking water, “are so weak a random and I could beat them up. For the reward, um, how about… the respect and praise of a kickass, hot girl?” she said as she gave a large grin.
Kin chuckled. “Throw in your name and vibe address, then sure, I will help.”
“Awesome. The fight’s in ten minutes, get ready.”
As she walked away, Kin took the chance to admire. Neck-length brown hair was tied behind her narrow, pointed ears. Under a grey tank top and black sport shorts, a thin coat of amber-brown fur covered her slender, lean body. A tail came out between her clothes and fell down to her ankles as it softly swung left and right. When she reached the platform, she jumped over the ropes and landed softly on her bare feet.
