Chapter 4
Reaching the door I grabbed the handle and swung the door open.
Karl stood there, a smirk on his face as he looked at me.
“You look like you’ve seen a ghost.” He chuckled as he put a foot forward to come in.
Glaring at him he took a step back, letting me step forward so I closed the door behind me.
“Was that your doing?” I snarled, my eyes glowing in anger. “Are you still going to torture me with his image?” I asked, raising my voice, my hands shaking.
“That’s your punishment,” Karl stated simply.
“Wasn't killing him right in front of me enough?!” I was now crying, my entire body shaking with rage as the demonic shadows started to seep out of my form.
“Know your place, Felice,” Karl growled, the surrounding area now going dark, the only thing visible was his golden eyes.
I froze at that, the shadows darting back to my figure, now shaking in fear as I bowed, the chain around my neck tightening.
He raised his hand, even though in the darkness I could see it coming.

Swinging at me, he punched me, sending me flying across the length of the building.
Covering my head, my figure now shaking, as I struggled to get up only to feel a foot pushing me to the ground.
“Know your place!” Karl growled.” You’ll never be free, you’ll always remain as property!” he continued, the pressure against my bones increasing, the need to breathe clawing at my lungs.
“He’s dead because of you, it’s your fault. “ he muttered.
“Defy me again and you’ll be joining your beloved soon enough,” Karl concluded. “Hopefully tortured for the rest of your miserable life, I’ll see to it personally.”
“Reminding you every day that you caused someone you care about to die, that you were the one responsible,” He ranted, a sadistic glee in his voice as he continued to grind his foot into my back. “That if you had kept your feelings in check he would be still alive!” His maniacal laughter etched in my ears as the darkness faded, leaving me sprawled on the ground gasping for air.
Composing myself, my body aching I made my way to Amelia's study and knocked.
A sniffle was heard on the other side.
Quietly opening the door I stepped in. looking around to identify the noise.
“Are you alright Lady Clare?” I called out, my voice still had not returned to me, but I stood straight as to not give away any unwanted detail.
Shooting out from what I assumed to be under the desk, she strode up to me.
“Who was it?”She asked.
“An uninvited guest,” I stated a neutral expression resting on my face.
Amelia shuddered. Over the week that I had been serving her, her parents had sent people to find her and bring her back. She had ordered me to deal with them as I see fit, only to make sure that I didn’t bother her or wake her up.
“I took care of it, so there's no need to worry.” I smiled, bending down to wipe the tears off her face.
“You won’t leave me right?” Amelia asked suddenly.
Crouching down I looked at her, giving her a reassuring smile. “Of course not. You ordered me to stay by your side after all.”
“What if I hadn't ordered you to, would you leave?”
“No,” I replied. “I’ll stay by your side no matter what. Even if the whole world is against you and burning down, I’ll remain by your side till the very end.”
