When she awoke hours later she awoke with a start. She was being dragged or more specifically the bear she was in. It was an easy notice with all the blood sloshing around. She uncurled from the ball she was in and immediately regretted it. Her muscles screamed in pain, the bruise in between her shoulders was on fire, and her bones hurt. Despite that, she kept going until she was sitting up.
After that, she thought about what to do her half-feral mind being soothed by the blood she was sitting in. At first, she tried to think about the past but anything, before she woke up, was fuzzy and made her head hurt. Then she thought about the fight with the bear for a single moment before her mind drifted to the strings.
As soon as her mind even touched the topic the position of the strings lit up in her head and even though it was a few all of them begging for attention at the same time made her mind blank for a moment. Once the moment passed she tired to think it about subtly but her mind was not made for such a task and any slight contact her mind could muster was not slight enough.
Every moment strings would light up in her mind so she gave up entirely and just gave them the attention they were asking for. She went for the ones inside her head first as she fully did not trust the ones outside after they stole her blood, The three of them gave different feelings and textures when she thought of a singular one. The first one give a feeling of control and its texture was soft. The second one give a feeling of opening and its texture was hard. The last one gave a feeling of gathering and its texture was also hard. Then she brought out her mental fingertips.
Those transparent fingers drifted in her head awaiting for her to want to grab a string. It didn’t take long for that to happen. Her thumb and forefinger pinched onto the string and an instant later she let go crying.
What happened when she pinched that string would have been imperceptible to anyone but her. It was so slight that the feral part of her mind barely reacted before she did. The blood level inside the bear dropped by a millimeter.
That was it for her. She was never going to trust the strings again. They kept stealing her blood. She was going to sit in the bear and do nothing till something happened. She didn’t have to wait long.
In seconds the sounds of tearing into flesh echoed inside the bear and in a minute she could see the outside from multiple directions. At that moment she decided that was enough for her to react.
She got up, ignoring her aching muscles, then crawled through the slit she made. As soon as her hands hit the cool stone of the outside she dived, missing a bite of a wolf that was near her. The dive turned into a roll then a get-up.
She quickly turned around away from the cave wall and looked at her enemies. 6 wolves at hip height. Not easy but definitely not impossible. One wolf began to growl then two then four then all six. The cave made the sound echo and hurt the girl’s ears then the sound stopped and three wolves jumped at her. One from behind the bear one from her left side and the one who tried to bite her on the way out. A roll to the right got her away from the attacks and right in front of a wolf. At the halfway mark of the roll, she kicked her legs out hitting the wolf in front of her in both of its front legs. The wolf’s cry of pain was drowned out but the echos of breaking bones.
A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
The wolf dropped to the floor as its front legs could no longer hold it up and its back legs buckled under its increased load. With the girl’s back still on the floor she then faked a get up and waited for a wolf to leap at her supposed postion. When one did she pumbled her fist into its ribs then grabbed it by the front legs and finnaly pulled it down while letting it keep its speed. With it’s speed kept it went higher and so did the girl her pulls downward doing basically nothing. As soon as the girl’s feet left the ground she brought her body together then slammed her legs downward and pushed the wolf foward.
With her adding to its speed it kept flying till it hit one of the stone walls of the cave and it quickly shot its head toward the ground advoiding a broken face and instead a concussion. Finally off the floor the girl brought up her hands claws front. Then she waved her hands around trying to swat the annoying string that were clogging her vision and begging for attention. That moment of distraction was all the sixth wolf needed. It had been trying to sneak up on her the entire fight but she knew it and was going to go after it next if the strings weren’t so annoying.
Presented with an opportunity to strike, the wolf took it with no second thoughts and unceremoniously bit her calf from behind. The wolf lets go and jumps back and watches the girl waiting for it to falter from the pain in her calf. Instead, she looked down sees the blood dripping from her leg, then smiles and turns to the wolf. When that wolf sees that primal smile that graces her face it falters because even a wolf could tell the thought that is going through her head. That single thought is echoing inside the cave like a chant and when the other wolves hear it they falter too. The unheard chant drowns their thoughts and blocks their ears. The unseen chant fills their vision with a word they can’t understand. The untouched chant crawls against they fur and skin not letting them feel the ground. Then BLOOD stops and the wolves are given back their feelings letting the absolute nightmare of a creature fill their vision.
Her sliver hair is not longer silver but blood red her smile was now a too wide grin and her eyes her purple eyes that could pierce a soul were filled with madness and obsession. The wolves could feel the lust for blood coming from that girl no that creature. It was so intense that they could feel their blood trying to leave their body.
The creature grabbed the string that felt like opening with a mental hand, watched as a rage red cut, like a wound, openned in the air and the gallons of bear blood the girl had collected fell out. Then the creature grabbed the control string while letting go of the one from before and the blood on the ground and inside the bear began to move. At first it just gathered on the floor into a single spot then floated in the air and gathered in hundred spots to form needles and finally groups of ten needles gathered together and condensed down to a solid.
Two of them start to move heading towards the wolf that bit the girl at the softest part of any animal the eyes. Those needles easily pierced it’s soft eyeballs and went straight inside it’s brain space. Once there they combined into a small blade and quickily cut the brain stem. After all no need to make it suffer, it had helped get her feral side out.
The wolves could only watch as their kin fell to the floor dead because every ounce of their bodies, minds and souls said any move was tantamount to sucide and so the rest of the fight went with the girl vs a group of punching bags.
It was good training though at least for her feral side it was doubtful if her rational side would even remember fighting wolves to begin with. So while her feral side was in control learning how to use its power that its stupid rational side couldn’t seem to understand, the rational side in question was currently dreaming of an ocean of red.
