Chapter 313

CHAPTER 313

Alex and Quincy were right behind Madeline and Joel. Madeline and Joel probably wouldn't survive if the car hit them, and neither would Quincy or Alex. In that split second, Madeline had no time to think about what was happening. She instinctively hugged Joel and jumped to the side with all her strength. She and Joel managed to avoid being run over, but she suffered scratches on her body as the car passed by and continued to pass through behind her.

The car was going to hit Quincy and Alex when Luke jumped in front of it. He pushed Quincy with all his might. The force caused Quincy to knock onto Alex as they landed elsewhere. However, it was too late for Luke to escape by this time. Bang! The car collided with Luke, and he flew a few yards away.

Since the target wasn't knocked down yet, the car didn't stop there. It reversed and accelerated again in Quincy's direction. While this was going on, Emory and Leonard, who had been close on Madeline and Luke's heels, also showed up. Emory quickly grabbed Quincy and dashed forward, trying to find cover.

Just as the car was about to run over Alex, who had remained still in the same spot where he had fallen earlier, Leonard jumped over and pushed Alex to safety. However, the car knocked Leonard over with the impact sending him into the air due to the collision.

Spit! A mouthful of blood came out, but he gritted his teeth and got to his feet anyway. A few strides later, he leaped onto the front of the car hood and onto the car roof. With one blow, he shattered the car's sunroof and slid inside. Leonard choked the driver until he was under control, then climbed into the passenger seat and applied the brake.

The incident lasted ten seconds from when the car crashed into the people until Leonard hit the brakes. The people around them were screaming in terror, and the car had already stopped before they could

react. Some of them called the police, while others mustered the courage to take a closer look.

When Madeline hugged Joel to avoid the initial collision with the car, she fell to the ground and experienced temporary dizziness. Soon after regaining consciousness, she turned around to ensure Joel's safety. She went into a daze when she saw Luke lying motionless in a pool of blood. She quickly stood up with Joel in her hands and stumbled toward Luke.

At this moment, Joel was terrified and crying as he tried to find his brother. "Quincy! Quincy!"

After realizing that the situation was under control, Emory ran toward Joel and Madeline while carrying Quincy in his arms as soon as he heard Joel crying.

Meanwhile, Madeline dashed to Luke, and her knees buckled as she saw him motionless on the ground. She knelt down and felt his pulse with her trembling fingers. Fortunately, I can still feel his pulse!

While she hugged Joel and Quincy, who had just leaped into her embrace, she dialed the emergency number with the other hand. Her fingers were trembling uncontrollably, and her voice was breaking. As soon as she finished her call, she tossed her phone and went to see how Luke was doing.

Emory immediately rushed to see Leonard after handing Quincy over to Madeline.

"Leonard, are you okay?" he asked anxiously as he yanked the car door open.

Although Leonard was covered in blood, he was still conscious, and his face was extremely pale. "I'm fine, Emory..." Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.

Emory immediately gave the driver, who was still struggling after being choked in the neck, a knife- hand strike, knocking him unconscious. Then, he pressed the Bluetooth earphones in his ears and said, "Someone attempted to murder Mrs. Hart and the young masters outside their school. Send backup immediately."

At that moment, Leonard smiled and slowly closed his eyes.

"Leonard!" Emory was freaking out, but he was afraid to move Leonard for fear of worsening his injury.

Shortly after that, Fred, Simon, a few of the Hart Family's bodyguards, and Leigh arrived. Leigh quickly assessed Luke's and Leonard's wounds.

Even though Madeline was not audibly crying at this precise time, tears were running down her face. She turned to Leigh and asked anxiously, "How are they?"

Leigh requested that Leonard be placed on the floor before removing her silver needles and inserting them into his chest. "Luke is not in danger."

Emory's heart skipped a beat when he heard that. If Luke is not in danger, then Leonard must be. His crimson eyes were getting even redder, and rattling could be heard from his clenched fists.

Similarly, Fred and Simon's eyes were completely red. "We're taking Leonard to the hospital now! He is not going to die!"

"You can take Luke to the hospital, but you can't take Leonard," Leigh said calmly. "He'll need a stretcher. Have you called an ambulance?" That last question was for Madeline.

Madeline nodded, tears streaming down her cheeks. "I did."

Leigh then turned his attention to Emory and his brothers. "Wait for the ambulance if you don't want him to die."

Although Emory and his brothers were familiar with basic first aid, they were not doctors. They could tell Leonard was seriously injured, but they could do nothing about it. So, they had no choice but to listen to the doctor.

The next few seconds were very challenging for them. Even though the ambulance arrived in minutes, it seemed like an eternity to them. Leonard and Luke were loaded into the ambulance when it arrived.

While she hugged Joel and Quincy, who had just leaped into her embrace, she dialed the emergency number with the other hand. Her fingers were trembling uncontrollably, and her voice was breaking. As soon as she finished her call, she tossed her phone and went to see how Luke was doing.

Madeline had to accompany them to the hospital in the ambulance because she was concerned about their condition. On the other hand, Joel appeared to be in shock as his small body trembled and he firmly hugged her. Quincy's reaction was less obvious than Joel's, but his body was tense, and his face was pale. Even though the children shouldn't be taken to the hospital, Madeline wasn't willing to let the bodyguards take them back to the Sun Garden. Therefore, she would prefer to bring them along to the hospital.

Leonard and Luke were taken to the operating room when they arrived at the hospital.

Sebastian arrived at the hospital about ten minutes later. He rushed in with an anxious expression, and

sweat dripped from his brow. Joel was the first one who noticed him. After leaving Madeline's embrace, he ran toward Sebastian and leaped into his arms. He restrained himself from wailing aloud because the hospital was so quiet. So, he buried his little face in Sebastian's chest and cried out in fear and sadness while suppressing his voice. Sebastian's heart shattered at the sound of his sobs.

Then, he knelt down and hugged his small body. He gently comforted Joel as he wiped the tears from his face. "Don't cry, Joel. Now that Daddy is here, everything is fine, so don't cry."

"Daddy…" Joel's body twitched from crying, and his voice was intermittent. "Mommy... Quincy... Die... Scared..."

"It's okay. Don't be scared." Sebastian kissed his forehead and patted his back while hugging his small body. "Mommy won't die. Quincy won't die. And of course, you won't die too. Daddy is here. I'll protect Mommy, Quincy, and you! None of us will die."

"Mr. Luke… Leonard…" Joel pointed toward the operating room. "Die…"

"No! They, too, will not die!" Before he approached Madeline and Quincy, Sebastian consoled him and hugged him.

A pallid Quincy was nestled up to Madeline as he stared at Sebastian quietly. Meanwhile, Alex sat quietly beside Quincy.

Sebastian approached Madeline and stroked Quincy's head to comfort him before asking, "Are you hurt?"

Madeline shook her head and said hoarsely, "I'm not sure if Luke and Leonard will be okay..."

Despite her best efforts, her voice cracked, and the tears she had fought against began to flow again. "If they... I'd rather be the one who dies..."

It was more valuable than anything else because each person only had one life. She couldn't afford to have anyone die for her, so she rejected the idea that anyone would do so.
