Chapter 6

TYRON

Oh dear. I hope she doesn't get into any trouble finding a boat. She says she knows where to find one but does she? We haven tbeen on any boats in over three years. Please don't get into trouble. I need something to do so I go through the basket Sequoia prepared. I find some clothes for me, some dresses for Sequoia and something that looks like an over starched half shirt.

It looks so odd that I decided to try it on. I take off my shirt and put the thing around my waist. I find some lacing thingies and start to pull on them. “Erk!” It is just so tight that I almost can't breathe. What is this? I pull tighter and look in my mirror. My waist is super small and this thing makes my chest really big. I think I have seen someone wearing this sort of thing before. Aha! It is a corset. How does she wear this thing all day? I hear the door creak open and I try to grab a rob to cover myself in.

“What the heck are you doing wearing a corset?” my mother comes in and sees me in this thing.

“ Uh, er um I saw this thing in Sequoia's room and I was curious.” I say trying not to sound weird.

“ that is a corset. Please dont wear one again. You can wear what you like just not corsets. Those are your sisters. Please don't wear them.’ Then she takes the corset and walks out. Wow that was embarrassing but seriously how do girls wear that stuff?

I put on my clothes and start to pack some stuff for the trip. We will need fire starters and canvas for tents to sleep in. We will also need rope, and three long wooden bows. I gather the materials and stuff it all in a pack. Then I lay down for a nice long nap.

“Gah!” I wake to a horn getting blown in my face.

“ Wake up! We are leaving. It's early morning and time to go.” It is Sequoia.

“ what? It's time to leave already?”

“ yup! Now get dressed and lets go.” she says in a commanding tone

I put on fresh clothes and reach for the basket.

“ Where is the basket?’ i say confused

“Already on the ship. all that's left to pack is you and me” she says. Then she hoppes out the door, me following after. Outside, the sky is light gray with clouds. There is a slight breeze that is perfect for sailing. We walk down the marble steps and around into the gardens. Then after a while we come out of the gardens and out to the bayside of the island. We are on the top of a large hill with a sandy path leading down the side of it. The hill is covered in long green sea grass blowing in the wind.

You can see just far enough to the sea-house on the cliff that shines light for the ships coming and going from Elvendale, where we are, to the mainland across the bay. It is my favorite time of day and year, this late summer weather. I look down and see a sturdy looking sailboat docked on the sand with white capped waves crashing on the hull.

We walk down to the boat and climb in. Sequoia unties it and we set off through the water. The waves gently rock the boat and when I untie the sails we travel at an amazing speed. Standing at the front of the boat, with sea spray in your face and the wind in your hair, it is exhilarating. I have wanted to do this for years and finally.
