My grandmother on my father’s side died in her sleep last night. We’re still not sure why, but she’s gone. Half of my grandparents are now dead. I remember a few years ago, when I was just starting to write Budding Scientist, I felt like the months of Covid were particularly bad because every few months another family member went to the hospital. It usually wasn’t even Covid related, it was just random catastrophes falling out of the sky. Last year I thought I beat the curse, since it over 12 months since anyone I cared about had an emergency, but here we are again..

I was a lot less close with my family on my father’s side than my mother’s side, but I still don’t feel very good right now. I’m probably going to take the rest of the week off. I’ll see you next week when I’m hopefully in a bit of a better headspace.
