Derek was feeling very awkward sitting inside the golden capsule as the green haired girl completely ignored him after informing him about their destination. He tried to start a conversation but was met with silence.
Realizing that he no longer needed to be polite, he went back to his book and started reading about the bases. Apparently, the Org had secret bases in almost all countries, and in some cases, there were multiple bases.
Derek’s curiosity was piqued when he came across some countries and places, he had no idea existed. According to the books, these places were a space time anomaly. Basically, due to the space time anomaly, they land they occupied was many times bigger than what it actually was.
For example, a house occupies an area of 1 KM but when you enter the house, you find it to be way bigger than 1 KM. Due to this, the world was essentially a lot bigger than it actually is.
Even the main base was situated inside a space time anomaly. The book also explained that the general pullulation of the main base alone was over a billion.
This Blew away Derek’s mind. If only the population of the main base was so much, then what about the overall population including all the organisations? As he was musing about this, the capsule came to a stop.
The Green haired girl stood up and said “We have arrived at academy city. I will give you 1 minute to gawk at the sights like a country bumkin. After that, I expect you to follow me silently understand?”
Derek was confused and as he was about to question her, the doors opened and he understood her instantly. What he saw was straight out of a sci fi movie. He was surrounded by super tall buildings and drones flying about, carrying packages.
All around him, people were moving about in an orderly manner. The entire city was bustling. It was hard to believe that he was somewhere in Antarctica. Just as he continued to take in the sights, he heard an annoyed voice. “Time’s up”.
The girl then started walking in a direction. Derek hurriedly ran behind her while continuing to look around. The strangest thing was that there were no boards anywhere. None of the shops had name signs, there were no directions and all the people where staring at their wrists from time to time.

He desperately wanted to ask the green haired girl what they were doing but was afraid that she would go on another rant. The girl though noticed his expression and understood his doubts instantly.
With a sigh, she said “Are you wondering why everyone is looking at their wrists? That’s because every one has been equipped with an assistant. It’s a devise that’s embedded in the wrist. It comes with a screen that only the user can see. Fancy right?”
Derek nodded with a dumbstruck expression. The first thing that came to mind after hearing about this amazing device was that if he had this before, he wouldn’t have been bored in classes as he could have spent time watching movies or something.
As he was revelling in his own fantasies, she continued “you will also be given your personal assistant. It basically acts as your phone, your computer and like its name suggests, your assistant. You can explore its functions once you get it.”
Derek nodded and continued following her while looking around. He could see cars that were clearly very advanced in technology, drones managing traffic and pedestrians in an orderly manner. He also saw what was clearly a mechanical cat stuck in a tree.
He marvelled at how different everything was. By then, they had walked for about 5 minutes before coming across a huge wall. The green haired girl walked up to the wall, held up her wrists and touched some buttons or that’s what Derek assumed because from his perspective, she was just poking randomly in the air.
Right after she did that, a passageway appeared in the wall. Derek was stunned and how seamless it looked. One would never know that there was a passageway here if they hadn’t personally seen it.
He followed the girl in. the passage way was completely dark except for some red lights lined at the borders. “since there was an error with your recruitment process, I can’t take you through the main gate until your registration is compete. So, we can only take this passageway. Emma has already called ahead and informed about you so there won’t be any problems.”
They walked silently for about a minute when they came across the exit. They had entered the academy building directly. They walked along a deserted hallway before they came across a room which was named registrations.
As Derek and the girl entered, they were greeted by an old man who introduced himself as Mr Klien. Derek smiled and introduced himself as well. He clearly missed the shocked expression of the girl when she had heard the old man’s introduction.
Coughing slightly, she introduced Derek’s situation to him. The old man smiled and handled the proceedings and asked the girl to lead him to the reception area where the staff will handle everything.
After Derek and the girl had left, the old man mused to himself. “Interesting, very interesting. That girl Emma said he was a commoner. If so, then who the hell placed such an intricate lock on that lad’s memories? Hmm, what secrets does his memories hold? Looks like a variable has been introduced to the balanced field.”
