The imposing cubic building, surrounded by a four-meter-high wall, looms majestically in front of Otilia and her group. Four turrets, one at each corner of the perimeter, stand proudly like guardians. Menacing-looking automated turrets equipped with advanced recognition cameras are abundant, carefully watching over the single central entrance. Armed men patrol the area, and their appearance is stern and resolute. On the side of the building, in large letters, it reads, "FORT RINASCITA." This place seems like a relic from a bygone era, an old military structure now repurposed for new life.
As their Caravan approaches the entrance, Otilia carefully observes the building. It's clear that it has been abandoned for a long time, but now it's once again guarded by armed men. The tension in the air is palpable as they prepare to enter.
Once inside the building, they notice a large entrance for vehicles, indicating that this place was designed to accommodate a wide range of vehicles. In the center of the building stands an imposing elevator, which seems to be the key to reaching the heart of Rinascita itself. The underground bunker extends for hundreds of meters into the ground, with a conical structure. The entrance to the bunker is located right at the top of the cone, and each segment of the cone represents a well-defined area.
As the group approaches the bunker entrance, they can see uniformed men carefully guarding the area. The bunker, carved into the rock, is a testament to the seriousness of this place. It's isolated from the outside world and powered by an experimental fusion nuclear reactor, making it a virtually impenetrable fortress.
At the bunker entrance, there's a checkpoint manned by a dozen men. They stop the vehicle, and one of them steps forward and asks through a radio transmission system, "Vehicle Caravan, code 8876, ID request."
Otilia calmly responds, "This is Colombo, Captain Otilia 8876. Colombo requests access to Genova."
The voice of Otilia through the radio continues, "We are transporting dangerous individuals who require armed escort and secure containment."
Filomena, one of the prisoners, turns to Saverio with concern, "Saverio, did you memorize the route? We'll need to report how to get here to Toronto in case we escape."
Saverio nods, trying to keep in mind every detail of the road that led them to this place. "Yes, they'll pay for this. They'll regret bringing us here."
The voice from the radio responds, "This is Genova, permission granted for Colombo. Proceed to the loading dock at walking pace."
Otilia orders the Caravan driver, Milano, "Heard that, Milano? Proceed slowly to the elevator."
Milano responds respectfully, "Yes, ma'am," as he carefully drives the vehicle toward the elevator.
Michele, wide-eyed, observes everything and exclaims, "It's gigantic!"
Brina, an experienced travel companion, smiles and tells him, "You haven't seen anything yet, Zombie. It's even more immense inside."
The gate in front of them opens, and the armed men signal them to proceed. With caution and prudence, the Caravan slowly advances into the inner courtyard. It's clear that this place has been a refuge for many people, given the number of vehicles parked in the courtyard.

Once inside the building, they are stopped by the soldiers guarding the area. Otilia takes command and orders, "Let's get ready to disembark."
The group of four (Otilia, Michele, Brina, and Milano) exits the Caravan. They don't forget the two raiders they captured along the way, Filomena and Saverio, who are bound and closely watched.
Otilia approaches the squad leader of the armed men who welcomed them and greets him with a friendly smile. "Hey there, Giacomo, I've brought you two souvenirs from our little excursion."
Giacomo, a middle-aged man with the look of someone who has seen many battles, smiles ironically. "Very kind of you, Otilia. Who are these two rough characters?"
Otilia quickly explains, "They're raiders we captured on the road to get here. We tried to cover our tracks, but they could be sought after by Toronto and other raiders. They're dangerous."
Giacomo nods and orders his men, "Boys, put in lockup these two raiders."
Filomena, one of the prisoners, pleads with a trembling voice, "Mickey, don't leave me in the hands of these men... we had a deal!"
Michele, looking at Filomena with determination, replies, "I have no idea what you're talking about. Try to remember something useful. Maybe they'll treat you well."
Saverio, the other prisoner, desperately tries to free himself by pulling at the men, but he's immediately brought to the ground by a soldier who strikes him with the butt of his rifle. It's clear that these men won't take any chances with the raiders.
Otilia, always attentive to the situation, warns, "Don't underestimate them. They'll try anything to escape."
Giacomo nods again and asks, pointing to Michele, "So who's this young man?"
Otilia responds, "He's a survivor from a domus that was attacked by raiders. His name is Michele."
Giacomo seems convinced by Otilia's approval and asks her, "Do you vouch for him, Otilia?"
Otilia nods firmly, "Absolutely."
Giacomo nods in agreement and says, "Okay, just because you vouch for him. Now go. The General is waiting for you at the command center for the report."
Otilia thanks him and adds, "I'll go right away. I also need to inform you that we're transporting a corpse, and we would like a funeral ceremony organized."
"I'll see what I can do." replies the squad leader.
Michele is grateful for Otilia's concern and sincerely says, "Thank you, Otilia."
Otilia nods as if to reassure him not to worry.
Milano, one of the group members, approaches the two men in charge of unloading the Caravan and asks, "Attached to the back, there's an obsolete and battered Etriclo. Could you send it to the workshop?"
The men nod and prepare to take care of the damaged vehicle. Milano also points out, "We also need a complete diagnosis for the Caravan."
"Milano, you're making us work overtime!" one of the two men responds, sounding a bit complaining.
"Come on, guys, I'll make it up to you. I'll treat you next time." Milano says, laughing.
"That's a promise, huh!" the other one smiles.
"Of course! Take good care of this beauty." Milano confirms, caressing the Caravan's body that has tirelessly brought them home.
The group continues through the massive building and passes by a freight elevator. Otilia knows they won't use the gigantic elevator designed for vehicles and cargo but one of the numerous high-speed elevators designed for personnel.
The elevator descends rapidly, and Michele is astonished by what he sees through the glass. Each level is larger than the previous one, like an underground city where hundreds of people work diligently. They pass by a lush greenhouse filled with vegetation and trees Michele has never seen before. Then, they go through a residential area, where it seems there are even amusements and public spaces. Continuing on, they see workshops, factories, training facilities, and technical rooms. Finally, they arrive at the last accessible level, which is the command center.
At last, they reach the last accessible level, the command center. Otilia knows that the General is waiting for their report, marking the beginning of a new chapter in their adventure.
