Ch.1 Nothing as expected

The first thing I felt as my consciousness came back to me was what felt like the world vibrating and then I heard the world roaring. Opening my eyes and jumping with a start I find myself strapped inside what seems to be a large vehicle of some kind and the seat I was in was absolutely massive to the point that my legs didn’t even dangle off the edge. Looking to my left i see what looks like a large doorway after looking that direction I heard what could only be an electric motor whine to my right which promptly made me turn my eyes that direction and what i saw made my heart skip a beat in fear, at the back of the vehicle were four space marines standing in a circle. three clad in the same green armor as the one I saw in the toy shop and another with white painted armor, they all had the dark angels winged sword emblem on their shoulder guard. I tried to say something but as soon as I took a breath to call out I fell into a coughing fit that gained the attention of all of the space marines ‘how could they hear me over this noise I can’t even hear myself of the noise of the engine’. With a quick glance at his fellows the one in white walked over to me and reached up above me and pulled out my backpack, it had clearly seen better days because it had burn holes through a few parts of it, he gently opened it and handed me my canteen of water which I promptly accepted with a nod and a smile. Although I smiled I still was terrified almost to the point of pissing myself and it clearly was because of how wrong it felt to see and be around these literal giants, as I was taking a drink I heard a low rumble that almost sounded like words which made me look up at the face of the in front of me. I cocked my head at him realizing he was trying to talk to me but those deep red eye lenses kept me mute but I had half a mind to screw back on the cap to my canteen before I spilled it.

He placed my backpack on my lap and walked through the doorway to my left for a few seconds and came back with what looked like noise canceling earmuffs with a small microphone attached to one side. He handed them to me and pointed to the sides of his head and motioned the act of putting them on, which made me laugh at the absurdness of it. I put on the headset and adjusted it to better fit my head, the relief was almost instantaneous although there was still some ringing, before I had a chance to speak an almost too deep voice rumbles in my ears and says “can you hear child, do you feel any pain?”. Shocked by his words which are wholly out of place from the hulking warrior I squeaked out “I’m fine thank you”. After a minute of poking and prodding he walked away to the group of giants and for the next hour it was silent until everything started to get lighter slowly until the point that I started to float in my restraints. Either we are diving really fast or we are in space, oh dear god emperor I hope we are in space I'm not sure I can handle dying again. Looking around I don't see any difference, the space marines are still standing at the end of the transport so I took that as a sign that we are still safe.

It was a few hours later I felt gravity reassert itself, soon after that there was a feeling of descending. Then I felt a small thump through the ship accompanied by the engines spooling down. We had landed, I don't know where but I just hope it's not another warzone and hopefully somewhere safe. As if reading my mind a voice crackled in my headset “welcome to the Fist of Caliban where you will remain until we decide what to do with you, there will be a serf waiting outside that will take care of you until then”. I nodded in the direction of the space marines then begun to pack the items I had removed from my schola pack as well as a half eaten ration bar that was given to me by one of the space marines and fiddled for a second with the harness keeping me seated before pressing the button in the middle of the buckle which released me. I hopped down off of the tall seat and stretched, ‘I had been sitting in that awkward seat way too long. I feel so stiff, I always hated long car rides but at least I had my legs free to move’. It was about a second after I had my belongings in hand that the door to my left opened with a hiss and ornate black armored, skull helmed space marine warrior walked through. If the presence of the other space marines scared me this one terrified me, he had a palpable aura that filled me with fear but also something else I couldn’t quite place. I was frozen in place staring at this one before he turned to me and held out his hand, confused at the strange action I furrowed my brows he said after a second “are you going to hand over the vox or have you become a simpton boy?” The voice was a deep inhuman rumble which made me jump before I quickly handed him the vox on my head. After handing him the vox headset he said “now off with you boy you’re in the way” I hurried down the transport and out the now open hatch at the back basically running away. I made it off the transport into a space that could only be described as cavernous but also full at the same time due to all the commotion of the work gangs resupplying and rearming several identical vessels. While gawking a heavy hand stopped me in my tracks, turning my head I see what seems to be a normal human although It is hard to tell under all of the armor he or she is wearing. Further behind the soldier is another person who was clearly a man and someone important due to the uniform this one is wearing.

completely unlike anyone else in this docking bay his uniform was a clean navy blue dress uniform with gold adornments and numerous medals of some kind. His hair was black and was speckled with grey along with his beard, if I had to guess his age I would say he was in his mid fourties. While I continued my observation the armored person began to push me towards the officer, while he in turn observed me. “Hmmm when the lord captain told me to come down to the embarkation deck to take a child into my charge, I laughed then but now I’m just confused”. I just shrug and say “I have no idea why I’m here” ‘in truth I’m still bewildered that I got reincarnated at all, I just hope that I’m in a relatively peaceful time period’. As soon as I thought that a group of 6 space marines entered all of which were different from the group that found me. My heart sank and kept for joy as I recognized them as the second generation space marines, the primaris. Four of them were the normal green color, one was white and the last one was blue. As they were walking past I felt the static again, once the blue one was nearest me an almost imperceptible spark of energy connected between us. Halting immediately and turning his head to me he stared for a few moments before one of the other marines noticed. A soft click could be heard which broke him out of his almost trance like observation, he began to walk away but a voice that wasn’t mine said in my mind *once I return I would wish to speak with you Artreus Johnson, you are a curiosity that I must understand but not a threat so I will deal with you later*. With that I felt a presence that I had not felt enter my mind leave and I stumbled a little from the pressure of it. “I know they can be frightening but you best keep up, there will be no vagrants on this ship if I can help it” the officer said to me. I quickly move to follow him further into the ship and hopefully a more safe start to my new life.
