2084: Desolation

“Private, we found our target.”

Stomps were heard around the compounds of the barren New York. The child’s heartbeat increases with every step, the repeated fear manifesting saying a phrase over and over.

“Don’t get caught,”

Those words are the only words that keep him alive.

“We lost him Private; we lost him!”

Police continue to surround the area, and tears fall from the poor child’s eyes. He calls for his mom, but they have already been separated. The child runs around and spots his mother surrounded by police, pleading to spare her child. The police officer scoffs at her and pulls out his gun, not a glimpse of emotion can be seen in his eyes. “You are truly blind to reality ma’am,” the police officer says. One shot, one moment, that’s all it took. A blue aura shoots out of the air, trauma surrounds the child, and anger rots the innocence away.

“Mom…?” he mumbles repeatedly as his vision darkens. The officer’s face goes from smugness to fear as a projection of a deformed figure surrounds the child. As the police tried to surround the figure, it possessed the child. His arm turned and summoned a staff. As the staff charges with an unknown electrical current, the police run away. Rain pours down as the boy looks down at his mother struggling to stay alive. His trembling voice calls for his mother as the mother says one last thing in her dying breath.

“You… are a blessing,” more blood spatters out as she coughs. “Live, and conquer this despicable wor…ld.”

As the boy cries out for his mother, electric surges cloud his mind. Lightning strikes his brain, and the boy gets up and walks toward the surrounding police squad.
