With the crackling sound of snow, Lumen walked through the ground filled with snow and ice. With each step, a large amount of snow crashed under her heavy spiked boots leaving behind a deep footprint in the snow, but weirdly enough, it didn't crack or break any ice under the snow as if such a colossal figure possessed weight no better than a small cat.

With the constant clinking sound of her armor at her ear Lumen continues her journey while following the signatures on the 3d map. Even though it showed on her information hud it was already past three midnight, the dim light of the sun still hadn't weakened, giving a creepy, weird aura to its white wasteland.

But after reaching the specified grid on the map while spatial distortion was happening, Lumen saw something she thought she had never witnessed in her whole life.

"To think I this kind of day would come." Breathing out thick mist from her suit's breather, Lumen spoke to herself as she noticed a group of penguins on the sea coast.

But unlike what Lumen saw in the animal documentary in the past, the penguins were running around the coast using their small tippy taps. Surprisingly she even discovered its seals moving in the middle of the group.

She could see those all of them were feeling uneasy, and despite how much they moved around the coast, no one jumped into the water, making it even weirder as if something scary thing in it.

"It's better if I don't give those bloodlinings any food." With such a thought of herding them away from the incoming battleground, Lumen walked towards a group.

Then Lumen felt something when she got closer to the group. She felt mixed fear, distress, and insolation from those animals. It is the same feeling she felt back in the prologue.

“____ ___ ________,” one of the penguins spoke with language that can't be understood by man.

But this time, Lumen felt it even clear, as if she could understand them better than humans as she understood they were a group cut off from the main one by the spatial barrier and running away from this weird, dangerous alien feeling.

"But may I ask, what are all of you doing?” She asked as Lumen saw the group tiptoe and stand behind her like a baby chick following behind its mother.

"____ ___ ________,” They said being around her made them feel safer and at ease.

"Suit yourself but don't get spooked when I use this thing," Lumen warned them as she raised her light machine gun.

“______ ______” this time, the seal responded to her, saying it already knew about it as it's something humans use to hunt then during the summer.

Hearing such a nonchalant response from a seal, Lumen felt she got so many questions and none at the same time, so she decided to leave such thought way back.

Right now, she needs to face a more severe problem.

A moment later, Lumen witnessed that the space that was about 1 km away from her had begun to distort and contort as if something were poking a plastic bag from the inside out.

And just like its plastic bag, the thin layer began to stretch beyond its capacity before its rupture open before her very eyes. From its literal rift in reality, monsters that shouldn't exist begin to pour out.

It had the shape of a giant ladybug made of flesh and stone, with its large shield-like head covering the front part of its body while spilling a black oil-like substance from under its belly. The thing prepared to destroy and corrupts everything in its wake. But the instant its bony leg took one step forward--

Something burst through the crown of its bony head. Everything was decided in an instant.

It was a wet- and blubbery-sounding explosion.

The bullet decelerated as it pierced its alien head. Lead scattered everywhere, swimming in a sea of brain fluid as it splattered away like fresh watermelon. Exiting through the other side of its skull, the bullet continues on its way popping its unprotected fleshy sac-like behind like a water balloon. Putting an immediate and permanent end to its unholy life.

Followed by the first shot, dozens more bullets begin to rain down upon its uninvited guests. With each cracking echo of gunfire, one more corrupter drops down on cold ground made of ice and snow, painting pure white snow with their vile black blood.

"Haah! 1!"

Breathing out another mist, Lumen dropped an empty box magazine on the snow, reached towards the right side of her back, took another new magazine from the feeder mechanism, and reloaded her gun with a smooth action.

With her aim true and sure, she took down the corrupter with just two or three shots. Brutally and efficiently, Lumen continue took down corrupters at the same rate as they came out from the rift.

The oddly rhythmical sound of gunfire mixed with the screeching sound of corrupters, followed by the action of reloading her gun, Lumen felt being in an almost trance-like state as if she were doing it automatically.

But things have never been that simple. At the moment she received another warning.

Another rift rips open just a few meters away from her, and another one right beside the first one. A thing with a huge head and thin and lanky body jumped out from its rift right towards Lumen, preparing to rip her apart with its long claws and largemouth resembling a creepy smile.

Without realizing the knife's edge had already stuck its chest, Lumen easily raised the blooding into the air and cast it aside with a strong push.

"Follow me," Lumen spoke to spooked animals while reloading her gun. She knew now her first plan failed as she stopped her suppression fire on corrupters.

But still, who would think the bloodlings would appear there of all places?

No matter what, she shouldn't allow bloodlings to touch those animals.
