Standing on the edge of the stairs, Vali was deep in thoughts.
On the surface, having the younger man staying here was not really a problem, after all, with his vast resources, even if there were a hundred of Heises, he could still support them all.
However…
Vali was unsettled. His thoughts flashed back to those moments in the study. The boy had made it clear, he did not come here for a relaxing vacation.
Au contrare, if anything, life was about to get a lot harder for them all.
Letting out a sigh, Vali turned around only to catch a glimpse of a tall handsome man rushing down the stairs with an empty bowl of food. The man had rushed past him so quickly, he seemingly didn’t even noticed Vali at all.
Vali’s heart sank.
At this rate, what he feared the most would come to pass. With the amount of care and attention Alvy had shown to Heise, even a blind man could see what was happening.
It might not be so bad, they seemed to be good together…
“…”
“…”
No, I should not get him involved in this mess. If I’m not careful, he might notice too.

Shaking his head, Vali returned to his room. Shortly after, he entered the guest bedroom with a small box clutched between his fingers.
“I’ve brought some medicine.” A cold voice startled Heise.
“O-oh, ok. Thank you.”
Sitting down on the edge of the bed, Vali opened the box, revealing an assortment of pills, liquids, and other medical tools. After fumbling around for a bit, he pulled out a nondescript bottle filled with unknown white pills.
Vali handed two pills to Heise, “Anti-viral medication.”
Looking at the two small tablets in his hand, Heise had a strange gaze. After thinking for a moment, Heise swallows the pills and smiled, “I feel much better already. Thanks.”
Seeing the young man obediently drank his meds, Vali breathe a sigh of relief. He begins packing up and was getting ready to leave when the young man spoke.
“Why?”
“Why what?”
Heise sat up. His innocent and helpless demeanor from a moment ago suddenly vanished.
“You know why I came here. You know what I want. So then…” Inching closer to older man, Heise’s voice was barely above a whisper, “…why would you help me?”

Vali pauses. His hands gripping the medicine box so tightly his knuckles were turning white.
“…Shouldn’t I?” Vali asked, his expression nonchalant.
The young man was now right behind him, a pair of warm strong hands clasp upon his own. The young man lowered his head, his breath softly caressing Vali’s ears.
“No, you shouldn’t, father.”

The handle of the bedroom door turned, as door slowly opened.
“It’s getting late, you should res—oh Vali.” Popping in, Alvy was about to tuck Heise to bed (a pleasure Heise would never admit), when he notices the certain quiet silver cat. “Were you two talking? Did I interrupt something?”
“No.” Picking up the medicine box that had fallen to the floor, Vali stood up, and, with not a single glance towards the young man, walked out the door without a word.
Seeing the strange expression on Vali’s face, Alvy stares at him for a while before turning back to Heise,
“Did something happen just now? What were you two doing?”
“I’m not sure, but I don’t think so…” Heise reclined back onto his pillow, his eyes widened innocently, “Mr. Stomford was just giving me some medications for my illness. He really is too considerate.”
Alvy sat down on the bed and covers the young man with the quilt. He couldn’t help but rub his hand on top of that adorable head, “Yeah. Sleeps well.”
---
It was a dark and cloudy night, as everything descends into a slumbering silent.
All of the sudden, a sharp and piercing scream rang across the mansion, waking up all of its inhabitants.
With a quick jerk, the guest’s bedroom door was slammed open, and a man frantically rushes in. “What’s wrong?! Does it hurt anywhere?”
Across from the man, on the bed, a young man was grasping his chest, his face distorted in pain. “….wuwu…I…ah…hurts…”
The low whimpers escaping the young man’s lips were like electric waves, violently crashing into Alvy’s heart. He sat down onto the bed and scoop up the young man into his arms, “Hey it’s ok. What’s wrong? Where does it hurt?” Alvy’s voice was low and gentle, as if trying his best to remain calm.
“…My …chest…my chest…” In between heavy gasps, Heise manages to squeeze out each word with great difficulty, as beads of sweats rolled down his forehead. “…can’t…breathe…” As if those final words took out the last of his strength, Heise vaguely felt his consciousness growing dims, and his body gradually became limp.
“Hey, hey!” Holding onto the young man, Alvy’s face got darker and darker. When the young man finally became unresponsive, Alvy suddenly realizes that something was horribly wrong. With no time to think, he picked up the young man from the bed, and dashes out the door.
Halfway down the stairs, Alvy saw that a certain silver cat had already gotten dressed and was standing in the front door with a set of car keys ready in his hand.
“Let’s go.”

[Hawk Lan Hospital and General Care Center] is located on the outskirt of B Province, only a few miles away from the beach. Due to its tempered climate and state-of-the-art technologies, this hospital had long been known for being the ideal locations for upper wealthy clients, especially those living the luxury villas aligning the coastline.
Summer had always been a slow and relaxing period for the workers at Hawk Lan Hospital. Since most locals are enjoying their vacations out of town, there’s less accidents during the days, and the nights are especially peaceful.
This peace, however, was abruptly broken on this night.
“Somebody, get out here!” A roar rang out from the corridor.
Following the voice, several nurses and doctors rush out to the hospital entrance only to find a tall and disheveled man carrying an unconscious person.
“…This person is…” An older looking man with glasses in a white coat stepped forward, “…what’s wrong with him?”
“You’re asking me that?!” the disheveled man fumed, “He’s just collapsed. You’re the doctor, hurry up find out!”
The doctor with the glasses frowned but did not response. Turning around, he began giving orders to the staffs behind him who quickly dispersed, and an emergency gurney soon arrived.
Laying the soft limp body down, Alvy squinted, his fingers tremble slightly. Before his fingers could grasp onto the boy again, the gurney was rushed to the ER, leaving not a shadow behind.
Soon, the hospital’s staffs returned to their posts, and the entrance was once again deserted.
The night slowly passes.
