Synopsis
Hume on horseback never bodes well. Their coming signals death, like the day they slew my mother. It means loss, like when they expelled us from our homes.
They’ve returned, this time with a new ultimatum, one that threatens our very survival: bow the knee to their false goddess and swear our fealty to the Order or retreat again, this time above the line of frost where nothing grows.
I thought our path ahead was clear until they captured one dear to me. If I don’t intervene, he’ll be executed, “made an example of,” they said.
