This dark, dramatic series predicates itself upon a collection of colourful and troubled wayfarers, and their triumphs, conflicts, and utter sufferings form the foundation of the wretched, fey landscape that is Arakvan: A realm tormented by plague, cruel earth, careless theocracy, and an unholy wave of beasts named the Scourge, risen up from the cavernous and unholy world below. Arakvan is the stage for my most profound and unsettling ideas, enforced thematically through every line of dialogue and each sword unsheathed. Where Gales Lament is theatrical, imposing, and horrific, exploring difficult subjects of grief, shame, despair, and mortal terror through a bewitching and unsettling realm.
