Synopsis
A sudden arrival lands Jonathon Marshall and his granddaughter Skye in a new world. For the first time in their lives, they are unable to think their way out of a problem. Althesia is "ruled" by a God named Alty, although he doesn't do much in terms of leading or controlling. His chief objective is to make the world entertaining to himself and grow his power. The actual world of Althesia is a world of contrasts. The rich live lavishly within view of those in the depths of all-encompassing poverty. The great cities that are scattered throughout the land look out upon vast fields, forests, and farmlands scattered with villages and solitary hermits. The powerful run amok and stand tall in front of the weak. On a larger scale, each culture deals with the issues and benefits that arise in a world with clear-cut power differences and class-like occupations. Jon and Skye are brought initially to a society that devised a strict hierarchy based on power. The lower classes here can't fight back against those above them, and the classes in the middle often don't feel the need to. Not all of the world is like this, however, and as you explore Althesia you find a multitude of continents to explore and adventure in. Some of these have even managed to create government systems similar to the democracies of the Marshalls' old world. Althesia is a world of contrasts. Gods meddle, the powerful prey on the weak, and the rich overwhelm the poor. Jon and Skye must not only learn to navigate this dangerous yet beautiful new world, but they must also learn to enter the top tiers of society.
This story is a GameLit/LitRPG novel. That means XP, levels, monsters, skills, rarities, classes, etc exist. It won't be as heavy on those elements as some novels, as I plan to keep the XP earned hidden from the characters to make their world seem more lifelike as opposed to a game. However, it will be going on behind the scenes and controlling the leveling. It does, however, mean there will occasionally be status sheets, although I will do my best to keep them on the rarer side and as small as possible. Therefore, if you hate everything about LitRPG's or Isekai-type stories, Welcome to Althesia is not for you. Otherwise, well, I guess I should say "Welcome to Althesia!"
