Synopsis

Update 12/31/23: I am still here. I am still writing. Like for many, this time of year is particularly hard for me. I will post new chapters as soon as they're ready. Thanks for bearing with. . Lissa wants to make fantastic textiles. Textiles that the world hasn't seen for a thousand years. Her mother, a [tailor], and her father, a [shepherd], tell her whimsical tales of the Lost Treasures of old. In glittering magical garments, [heroes] slay giants, solve ancient riddles, and rescue kingdoms. These stories stoke a fire in Lissa's heart, and she promises herself that one day she will make artifacts to coronate a new era of [heroes]. She won't just make dresses, she'll sew gowns that rival the sun; she won't just rivet belts, she'll enchant sashes that give the power of flight: she won't merely clothe commoners; she'll weave wares to enchant the whole world. The only problem is that no one really believes those old stories, and no one she knows can help her discover how to achieve her dreams. Lissa, however, isn't the kind of person to accept that something can't be done just because no one knows how to do it. Filled with determination and convinced of her eventual success, she is enthralled when the [king] offers to fund and equip her venture. Much to her parents' apprehension, she embarks with five other youths on a wild adventure of discovery, danger, wonder, and quite a bit of crafting. . . . For most of part 1 (Ch. 1–26), Lissa is a small child. If you want to skip over her being a hyperactive kid, Start at chapter 27. I am doing my best to ensure that people who start at part 2 won't feel completely lost without it feeling too much like repeating myself for readers who started with part 1. This story is mostly meant to be cozy crafting and adventure with some litRPG elements. The cast may get caught up in plots and schemes, but there will be no apocalypse and no 'fate of the world' level pressure. I don't want to live in that, so I won't write about it. While I have marked sensitive content warnings, most things are likely to be closer to PG than PG-13, and all chapters with sensitive content will have content warnings at the top. This story was a 2023 writathon winner.
