Synopsis
The Lamenters are an ancient chapter of the God-Emperor’s Adeptus Astartes. Stalwart defenders of His Imperium of Man and its subjects, their great victories are shrouded by the dark curse that lingers in their blood. They have fought the enemies of Mankind in every corner of the galaxy, and stood alone against threats that would drive mortal men insane. They are warriors of honor, yet live with the mantle of traitors around their necks.
Having fought on the wrong side of an Imperial Civil War, the Lamenters are sanctioned to fight a one hundred year long penitent crusade to absolve them of their sins. Forbidden from drawing recruits or replenishing their losses, they faced extinction in the face of the unrelenting tide of the Tyranids before salvation came in the Torchbearer fleets of the Indomitus Crusade.
Their penitence over, and infused with new blood in the form of Primaris Marines, the Lamenters stand firm once more against the darkness of the galaxy. Yet, as they are sent to investigate an isolated world that has gone silent, they will be forced to fight a darkness that threatens to drag countless millions of souls into damnation. For on the world of Morbius, the dead are stirring.
