The main focuses of the first book is to establish the lives and relationships within the world. Later books will delve more into political schemes and near future combat with very light sci-fi elements. The book is meant for older readers as it has dark and painful themes and circumstances. It's a semi-ensemble cast. The three main protagonists are: Lara Black: A Chinese/Welsh 22 year old scout who grew up in a band of nomads that roam the post apocalyptic ruins of Europe. After her group was torn apart at the age of eleven, Lara was adopted as Lt. Reese's younger sister and ward. As of book one, she is being groomed for leadership though a few painful lessons must be learnt about the realities of command during a losing war. Lieutenant Reese: A 28 year old Korean stealth specialist who grew up in the mega city that spans the entirety of what was once Texas, USA. Orphaned as an infant, he has spent his life gathering a found family. Recent events in his life have left him cold and detached. In book one, he will attempt to mend old relationships and grow into a better man. Serah Malthines: Irish/Italian. The daughter of the enemy. Serah is abject royalty. Her Father, Matias Malthines, is a dictator who rules over most of the world. She has spent her entire adult life in service of dethroning him under the title of the Rebel Queen. Such is her proclamations; the truth, however, is much more complicated.
