CHAPTER 44: THE RAGE OF XU HAU
Xu Hau glared at Wang Zen. Two more females appeared, flanking her, they looked flushed, with wet hair but their stares equally as angry.
Zen gulped in fear, instinctively stepping back from the three powerful women. The women’s combined killing intent caused Zen to reach for his storage stone but before he called his sword, he thought better. Drawing a sword on the City Lord’s daughter, even though she did try to kill him, was not a good idea. The beasts with him also recognised the present danger, with both Shibi and Sir Drools-a-lot growling.
“Stand down, guys.” Zen said before turning to Xu Hau. He clasped his hands, “Senior Xu Hau, I…”
“Save it!” she said. “I don’t know how men as stupid as you exist!”
Zen looked at the bath house behind the three. “Oh, you must be referring to the bath house incident. It was a mistake, I did not know it was the girl’s bath house until I was in.”
“Liar!” she said. “You are a young men and like all young men, you know this is the girl’s bath house. And on top of that, you have the gull to run the length of the whole building and coming out at the other end!”
“I-I was flustered. I-I didn’t know the way in… I was following the dog when…” They’re killing intent seemed to thicken in the air, sending Zen’s knees shaking in weakness. This woman, Xu Hau, was stronger than him in every way, in terms of raw power, she had surpassed Intermediary and Novice levels, and in terms of reputation, her family was the City Lord’s family. She could kill him here and suffer no repercussions.
Zen was finding it increasingly difficult to control the beasts with him under the continued killing intent but he held them back with the little will he had.
This was no time for pride and evasion. He had to swallow his pride if he was to survive. Clasping his hands, he bowed his head low, “Forgive me, Sen…”
“Perverts like you should die in a fire!” with that she sent a huge arc of qi his way.
Zen touched his storage crystal, calling up his sword. However, it took too long and he knew that the deadly arc of qi would reach him before it appeared. Such was the disadvantage of stroing weapons in storage crystals, they took time to materialise. Should’ve dodged, he thought to late as the arc was upon him.

Someone, their form a silhouette before the giant white arc of qi, jumped in front of him. “Grass Blade Splitting the Hill!” The form sliced the white arc in half, sending the two resultant stream of energy at either side of Zen and the beasts.
Now that the qi had been dissipated, Zen could clearly see his saviour. “Teacher Lu Daomeng!”
“How dare you stop me from punishing this boy?” Xu Hau said.
Lu Daomeng bowed, dismissing his sabre. “Forgive me, Xu Hau, but this boy… he is my subordinate.”
Zen was amazed. Lu Daomeng had thrown in his lot with him to stand against the City Lord’s daughter.
“Lu Daomeng!” a woman said, walking in. “Is-Is this the boy.”
“Yes,” Lu Daomeng said, “but it seems it’s too late.” Lu Daomeng looked back, a whisper of a smile on his face, “It seems his already seen the light and is has gone half blind.”
“I didn’t see much of the light, honest!” Zen tried to assure everybody. “It was like walking through a dim room with a small light. Nothing much to see, really.”
“What’s that suppose to mean?” Xu Hau shouted angrily. “Are you saying the girls are underdeveloped?”
“Young Wang,” Lu Daomeng said.
“Yes, Teacher?” Zen said.
“Shut up.”
Zen nodded and shut his lips.
“Miss Xu Hau,” the female Lu Daomeng brought with him said to the younger girl, “Lu Daomeng explained to me that this boy got overzealous chasing the Grey Stalker and did not notice that he was following it into the girl’s bathhouse. That is why he called me here. He thought he may need a woman to get him out.”
“Stupidity is no excuse,” Xu Hau said before turning to Lu Daomeng, “I see you are adamant about protecting that piece of trash but rest assured this is not over.” Xu Hau stormed off along with the other girls with her.
Zen breathed a sigh of relief when they were gone. “Thanks, Teacher Lu Daomeng, you truly saved me.”
“You foolish boy!” Lu Daomeng said. “Do you not listen?”
“I didn’t know,” Zen said.
Lu Daomeng walked away. “Well I did, that’s why you should listen to me.”
“I’ll be taking my leave now.” The woman that had come along with Lu Daomeng said.
“Thank you for your assistance,” Lu Daomeng bowed at the woman before she left.
Daomeng grabbed his ribs as he walked away, with Zen and the beasts following. “Urgh, you truly are a pain in my side, Wang Zen.”

They had been walking for a while across the campus with the Grey Stalker sniffing around. Once they were sufficiently close enough to the dorms, Zen decided to speak.
“Teacher Lu Daomeng,” he said. “I think I’ve had enough excitement for the night, so I’ll be going back to my quarters.”
“I think that’ll be best,” Lu Daomeng said. “There are still two more female only bathhouses on campus and I don’t know if we’d survive the night if you went through them too.”
Sir Drools-a-lot took off bounding again.
Daomeng looked at Zen and the boy shrugged.
The dog tackled someone to the ground causing him to shout in fear. Zen and Daomeng rushed over to pull the dog off its victim. The boy crawled away from them.
“Ew, that dog drooled in my mouth!”
Zen looked at the boy on the ground, “Chu Jiahai?”
Jiahai looked up in confusion at his friend, “Wang Zen?”
