Wang Lin rushed forward. He fist extending before her, heading for Wang Zen’s face. He shut his eyes and scrunched and tightened his body up. The pain did not come and he slowly opened his eyes to see the fist inches away from his face.
“You flinched?” Wang Lin said in disbelief. “You flinched! You don’t flinch, you block!”
She swept his feet from under him and Zen fell on the ground.
“Come on, ZenZen,” Lin said, circling him a s he got to his feet. “You need to get in the fight. What were you doing at that academy? Did you not learn anything.”
Zen got to his feet. He charged forward. Lin side stepped his two sloppy punches.
“Better but still…” she leapt back and delivered a round kick. It found its target and sent Zen twirling in the air.
Strangely enough, when Zen landed on the ground, it did not hurt as much as it should have. He hopped to his feet and took a fighting stance.
Lin dashed forward, she hopped and thrust a powerful kick forward. This time, Zen raised his arms in time to block the thrusting kick but the power behind it knocks him off his feet and sends him hurtling back.
Again Zen’s landing was not as hard as he expected and he did not slide the way he would have usually from an attack that strong. He got up and faced his mother.
“You are not strong enough to block that one directly.” She said. “Shall we try again?”
She charged forward. Zen got ready but his mother passed by him. She delivered a sweeping kick to his back. It slammed into him and he stumbled forward onto his hands and knees.
“Come now, ZenZen,” she shrugged, “You don’t expect me to be that predictable, do you?”
Zen whipped around and charged for her. He kept attacking and she blocked.
“Good! Good! Keep it up!” She said as she blocked his attacks which were getting better with each failed attempt.
She flipped over his head but he turned around in time when she landed. She delivered a sweeping kick, Zen was able to block it with his forearms. He shoved the kick away before dashing up to her. She blocked and jumped back. As quick as she jumped back, she leapt forward again, with her powerful thrusting kick.

Zen was able to react this time, using both hands to slam her leg aside, spinning her around. She used the momentum and delivered a spinning kick with her other foot. It hit Zen and he stumbles back.
Once her spinning motion stops, she dashes forward. Zen is prepared but she dashes behind him. He ducks low and her kick, aimed for his back, passes overhead. He thrust his foot out and caught her in the abdomen. She stumbled back a few feet.
“YES!” he said happily.
“Don’t get too excited,” she said with a smirk. “That was only one hit, if you’re going to do more, you’ll need to step it up.”
“Okay, then I’ll step it up!” Zen said, before charging at her.
“Blits Punch!” Zen shouted as soon as he was in range.
“Blits Punch!” Lin shouted back.
They both activated the move at the same time and throttled out multiple punches in a second. Zen’s punches were quickly overtaken and multiple punches hit him and he was sent falling back on the ground.
“You need to do better than 50 Punches a second.” Lin said. “I can do 200 punches.”
“I used to be able to do 80 before I got hurt.” Zen said, as he wiped his lip and got to his feet.
“Then bring it up to 150.” She said.
Zen dashed forward. He decided to not be predictable and slid low. She was able to react and dodge the attack. He stopped and delivered a drop kick, aimed for her feet. She hardens her body and keeps her legs from being kicked from under her.
He gets up. “Blits Punch!”
She jumps back, out of the range of his attack. “Those low attacks were real… low!”
“You don’t expect me to be that predictable, do you?” He said as he dashed forward for her.
“Scythe Kick!” she said as she delivered the kick.
On instinct, Zen leapt up in the air, that was when he knew he was in trouble. He began gathering his ki, hoping that he would be able to use Meteor Kick before…
“Reverse Scythe Kick!” Lin shouted as the ki arc her leg was making stopped and began swinging the other way, except this time, towards an airborne Zen’s direction! The first ki arc thinned out, feeding the second ki arc that was growing towards Zen making the attack 3 times more powerful. The arc spread out towards Zen!
His Meteor Kick was not formed quickly enough, he raised his arms, crossing them before him and hardening them as much as he could before the arc of ki, expanding towards him slammed into his body. The attack sent him flying back and further up before falling down onto the ground.
Zen was heading to the ground, head first. He knew that the landing would hurt and closed his eyes in grimace for the oncoming fall. The fall, once again was softer than expected, he opened his eyes, in time to see fading golden sparkles.
“Celestial Power,” he realised his mother had really been holding back, even softening his falls so that he did not get too hurt.
He rose to his feet when he noticed her dashing toward him, giving him no time to really recover. He raised his forearm in time to block her fist.
His mother smiled at him as her knuckles continued to push at his forearm while he tried to keep her at bay. “Well, seems the rustiness is out of you now.”
He smiled back at his mother. “I guess you are right.”
“Now I can teach you.”
“Teach me?”
“Tsk Tsk, have you already forgotten why we were doing this?”
Zen’s eyes widened at his stupidity. He was so focused on the fight that he forgot why they were fighting in the first place.
She withdrew her punch and stood normally; he did the same.
“Now I can teach you the ki technique,” she began, “Dash Tackle!”
