CHAPTER 153: MOCK LEVEL
Wang Zen sat cross legged across his Wang Ton. Shibi sat Zen, also in a lotus position.
“This technique requires good ki control.” Wang Ton said. “Too little power at a specific place, and the effect is diminished. Too much power and the effect is collapses.”
“I understand.” Zen said.
“Now take four levels of ki out of your diatian. Using the Essential Meridian, move 20% your ki to the liver meridian, then using your minor meridian move the 50% ki to your heart now split the remaining ki into two equal amounts and using the cognis meridian and the opening meridian send more ki to the mind simultaneiously. Now rotate the ki in the liver, heart and liver meridian to make them pulse out. Make them pulse out at alternating frequencies. Excess ki should be sent through to the stomach where you will rotate that. Now, slowly align the pulsing frequesncies.”
Zen frowned. “This… is… hard!” The technique fell apart.
Ton looked at him in impressed wonder. “You had it for a moment there.”
“It’s a difficult technique to do.” Zen said.
“You’re off to a good start.”
“What is the effect?” Zen said. “Does it make me light, please let it make me faster. I’m tired of everyone being faster than me.”
“I’ll show you.” He said. “What is my Rank?”
Zen opened his senses, estimating the power emanating from Ton. “You are Rank 7 Paladin.”

“That… is actually correct.” He said. “I am a Rank 7 Paladin. But… what is my power level now?”
Zen was knocked onto his back in shock. Before his eyes, Wang Ton’s power increased to that of an Emperor. “You are at Emperor!”
“Yes. That is the effect of the technique.”
“It increases your Rank?” Zen shouted. “That is a powerful technique!”
“You misunderstand, it doesn’t increase your rank, it just makes it seem you are in a higher rank than you actually are.” Ton said. “Someone in an Emperor Rank should be able to use Celestial energy, I don’t have access to Celestial Energy or even the amount of elemental energy anyone higher than Rank 7 Paladin.”
“It’s a lie?” Zen said.
Ton nodded. “Why engage in a fight if you can avoid it. No one smart will engage an opponent of a ridiculously higher rank than them.”
Zen frowned. He wanted to learn powerful ki techniques that would help him win any fight not ki techniques to bluff himself out of a fight. “I’ve fought people of a much higher rank than me. And I heard you have too.”
“This is why I said ‘anyone smart’.” He said. “Now, let’s see how well you can master the ki technique.”
They stayed for 3 days doing nothing but eating, sleeping and cultivating. Zen came out of the pond to see his father packing his tent into his storage stone.
“We’re already leaving?” Zen said, getting out his storage stone.
“No, I’m leaving.” He said. “You can stay and continue cultivating.”
“What about the training?”
“Wang Zen, your improvement in the Mock Level ki technique the past 3 days took me 6 months when I first learned it. You can master it on your own.”
Zen knew that he owed Lu Daomeng for he was the one who had improved his ki control. “How long should I stay?”
“As long as you want.”
Wang Ton tucked his storage stone away before he began leaving.
“Your not trying to get rid of me, are you?” Zen said. “Like in the past. I want to help get revenge for Wang Hun.”
“I left a note in your tent on where I’m going.” He said. “Follow it when you’re ready.”
Zen watched him leave. Shibi climbed to his favourie spot on his shoulder.
“Now what?” Shibi said.
Zen smiled. “We kick this training up a few notches.”
