CHAPTER 125: OUT OF CLUES?
“This is where I fought the Black Cloaked Assassin.” Zen said, crouching by the snowy grass.
Geyi Kun looked around, as Shibi excitedly ran around them.
“Well? Can you see anything, Kun Kun?”
Geyi Kun shook her head, while hugging herself to keep the cold at bay. “I don’t know anything, Wang Zen. I mean… I know somethings about plants and herbs but I don’t get why you brought me here.”
“I bought you here because Jao Fuu has scared her brother from getting involved and other than him, you are probably the smartest friend I have.”
“You… You really think that?” Kun said, hiding her blushing cheeks, not that she needed to with the cold air. “Shut up, Snot Nose!” she snapped in embrassesment. “Where is Chu Jiahai anyways? Isn’t he suppose to be here.”
“His gone out to look for clues in the forest where he met the assassin.”
Kun scoffed, “He won’t find any clues there.”
“Hey!” Zen said. “Don’t drag us down with your negativity.”
“I… Uhm… yeah.” She became very quiet before speaking up again in a smaller voice. “Wang Zen, are you sure that your friend is innocent? He could just be deceiving you.”
“He is innocent!” Zen snapped. “Even if everyone says his guilty, he says he is innocent and I know Jiahai, I know to believe him.”
“That’s all well and good but if you can’t find a way to prove that his innocent, than eve the evidence will say that he is guilty and there is no escaping that.”
“We will find a way, Kun Kun.” Zen assured her.
She sighed, allwong the silence to build between them again. “I’m sorry I couldn’t be of much help,” she said. “If you don’t mind, I’ll go back to my place, unlike you, I’m not dead inside, so I’m actually freezing my butt off.”
“Good, you could afford to freeze some of it off.” Zen said. “It would be an improvement.”
“You’ll excuse me if I don’t take beauty tips from a pig faced rat.” She said as she walked away. She stopped and looked back at him. “If you need me, you know where to find me, right?”

Zen looked up at her with a friendly smile and he nodded. She smiled back before continuing on her way.
Shibi climbed up his shoulder and radiated warmth. “Thanks, boy.” He said, patting Shibi’s head before they walked away. “Do you think I’m stupidfor pursuing this?”
There was a moment of silence before Shibi said, “No.”
Zen smiled and patted him on his head. “Thank you.”
He walked off.
“Wang Zen, nce to see you on your feet.”
Zen looked at the older boy who walked next to him. “Hue Yi! About last time, thank you for…”
“No need,” Hue Yi said, raising his hand. “Consider it a debt repaid.”
Zen smiled.
“Although, you really need to learn to how and when to pick your enemies.”
“I’ve never done that before, why start now?” Zen said with a good humoured smile.
Hue Yi shook his head, his smile growing. Ï must admit though, you’ve got guts. Going against Xue Shaonu when she has so many fans around this academy.”
“I’m not going against her,” he said. “I’m just disagreeing with that stupid Chen Jian’s assumption that my friend Chu Jiahai is the one who tried to kill her.”
“You know without proof of that, it just looks like you are standing against her by supporting a very strong suspect in her attempted murder.”
“But we’ve ran out of proof.” Zen said. “We have no idea who the assassin is.”
“Then maybe, instead of trying to find out who the assassin is, you should just try to prove that your friend is not.” Hue Yi said. “Have you tried speaking to Xue Shaonu and get any clues from her?”
“No,” Zen said, looking down.
“And why not?” Hue Yi said in confusion. He then made an annoyed sound at the back of his throat before slamming slapping his forehead. “Of course, you really like this girl. You don’t want to speak to her while things are this tense. That’s sad. But you don’t have to worry about that, cause she is out of your league.”
“What?”
“Yep. I doubt there’s anyone here in her league, not even the City Lord himself. Your romance is doomed.”
“Oh, you’re speaking from experience!” Zen snapped.
“What? Oh, you mean Xu Hau and me, that’s different.”
“How so?” Zen spat.
“I don’t like Xu Hau, I love her.” He said with a whistful look in his eyes. “And she loves me too”
“Really?” Zen said sceptically.
“Of course! She just hasn’t fully realised it yet.”
“But she has a boyfriend.”
“That won’t matter when we I defeat him, and prove my superiority over him.”
“In the Academy Fighting Tournament?”
Hue Yi’s voice took an omnious edgeat that. “Maybe even sooner than that.” Hesmiled, dispelling the darkness of his statement. “Anyways, good luck with… this. I’ll be watching.”
As Zen wathed him walk away, he did not doubt that he would be watching.
Zen was on his way to his living quarters when another guest crossed his path.
“Zen!” Jiahai desperately called.
“Chu Jiahai?” he said as he walked to him. Jiahai held out his hand and pressed a storage stone into his palm. “What…”
“Keep it safe,” he said.
There was a gust of powerful wind and both boys were floored. Before them, stood Lou Shan. She looked at Jiahai with disapproving eyes.
“Chu Jiahai, is it true that you attacked 3 boys in the forest.”
“It… It was self defence!” he said. “They attacked me!”
“They say something different and considering its 3 peoples words against yours, I’m inclined to believe them.” She said. “Chu Jiahai, this will is your last day at this academy!”
