CHAPTER 115: RACE FOR THE LIGHTINING HORN
Wang Zen gently placed Xue Shaonu on a new bed. More medical practitioners unwrapped her from her blanket cacoon so that she slept more peacefully.
“She didn’t wake up at all.” Zen said, watching the medical practitioners from the hallway along with Hong and Jian. “Is she really going to be okay?”
“The poison that was used on her was a nasty piece of work.” Hong said. “It will take a lot to help her.”
“How can I help her?” Jian said. “Please… anything I can do.”
Hong Lu rubbed her chin in thought. “The poison is a metal and organic compound. Although its very tricky, we can clense her of the organic compound but the metal one will be difficult. And on top of that, we have to keep the side-effects of the poison at bay. If we can get something that can help decrease the metal compound, it would greatly help us.”
““What’s that?”” Zen and Jian said.
“It is way too dangerous for you guys.” She said and saw the determined look on both boys’ faces. “Fine, I’ll tell you. You’ll need the tip of a Lightning Rhino’s horn. That section has been tempered by lighting, so it will help us create a force that can separate the metal components of the poison from the rest of her body. If you could also get steel moss, it would greatly increase the effect of the horn, making it a certain that wecan extract the poison. But it would be difficult to find it as there are none currently in the markets…”
“I’ll get it and in the meantime I’ll get my friends to also guard her.” Chen Jian sad as he began to walk away.
“I’ll get on it to and…”
“No!” Chen Jian said, turning to him. There was a sudden increase in pressure in the air. Wang Zen realised that Jian was emanating ki in his direction to make himfeel uncomfortable. For a moment, he stepped back, hoping to get a little reprieve from the onslaught. “You would just be in the way,” Jian spat. “Stay here where you belong.”
At that moment, Ze forgot his discomfort nd countered Jian’s ki pressure with killing intent, not that he had any control over it. “You don’t tell me whether I can help my friends or not!”
“If you come, it will be a bloody disaster! I will not let you come.” The ki pressure withdrew and instead, it began roiling inside the long haired boy’s body.
Zen prepared for a battle, clenching his hands int tight fists. “Stop me if you think you can.”

They were about to battle when…
“Would you two stow it!” Hong Lu said in annoyance. “While you little boys are pretending to be men, Xue Shaonu is fighting for her life. If you two cared at all about her, then you would realise that there is no benefit in fighting at the medical institution trying to help her and get going!”
At that, Jian’s ki calmed down and Zen’s killing intent was sothered by his worry. Both boy’s exchanged hateful glares before departing. Once Zen was outside, he ran through the snow caked ground to his dorm. He packed up everything he thought he needed into his storage stone ad left, surprising his roomates.
Zen was also shocked to see the sky turing light grey. The next day was already starting. He knocked on the gate of the communal entrance, hoping the right person would answer. And he was thankful that his luck held out when Geyi Kun answered.
“Crooked Nose? What are you doing here so early?” she said, yawning.
“I need your help, Kun Kun.” He began. “The healer responsible for Xue Shaonu said that the tip of the horn of a Lightning Rhino can help heal her.”
She snaped awake at this, no longer looking tired.
“I’m going after it and I want you to help.”
“I’ve got class.” Geyi Kun. “And, I am no expert in collecting animal parts.”
“We’re also collecting steel moss. I thought you’d be the best to show me where to get that.”
“Whose we?”
Zen looked away, his face a mask of frustration and annoyance. “Chen Jian and I.”
There was a moment of silence. “You’re working with him?”
“We’re woring towards the same goal but not necessarily together.”
Another extended moment of silence. “Give me some time, I need to pack up some things before I go with you.”
Zen nodded.
Shibi ran ahead of them as Zen and Kun followed behind.
“We’re are we going?” Geyi Kun said. “I’m sure there are no Lighting Rhinos in the Academy forest.”
“There aren’t.” Zen said. “We’re going to the Kygong Forest.”
“Is that where Chen Jian is going too?”
“If he has two brain cells to rub between that hollow, ugly looking head of his, he will.” Zen said. “That’s the closest place that has sightings of Lightning Rhinos.”
“How are we going to get there?”
“Speed Courier.” He said. “I spent a lot of money for it.”
“How is Chen Jian going to get there?”
Zen shrugged, “Probably the same way. It’s the fastes way to get there and time is of the essence.”
“What about using Xue Shaonu’s contracted beast?”
“Silicy?”
She nodded. “Couldn’t he just use that to get there. I’m surwe that bird is as fast as a speed courier. Maybe if we can get to it first…”
“We can convince her to take us to Kygong Forest!” Zen slammed his fist into his palm. “That’s genius, Kun Kun.”
“What do you expect? I am a genius.”
Zen smirked, “Shibi! We’re changing directions!”
Shibi stopped and ran up to his usual perch on Zen’s shoulder before they changed somewhere else. They saw the white body of Silicy on the roof of the medical facility.
Geyi Kun clicked her tongue. “Seems Jian Chen does have at least two brain cells. He thought of the sae idea.”
Zen saw Silicy land in front of Jian before the boy perched the bird before it flew off. Zen and Kun stopped and looked as they flew away.
“Oh well, I guess we have no other choice than to take the courier.” Geyi Kun said.
“Let’s go!” Zen said leading the way, as the race for the Lightining Horn began.
