Rab and Nem find themselves alone after their village is destroyed in the night by swarms of mobs. Together they must head out into the world to try to find a new place to live - a new village. If something like that even really exists. But larger forces are at work that don't care about villagers at all. Their path is going to take them to places they never even imagined, and they will encounter a lot of new people, and things, and things that look like people along the way.
