This novel is inspired by 'Saga of Tanya the Evil' or is its Japanese name 'Youjo Senki' by Carlo Zen so you are going to see similarities between the two. This series is orginarly a light novel but its been adapted into a manga and anime so if you have free time you should give the show a watch or read.
