Elias Erdingham is a young human mage making a living fighting in combat sports and tournaments alongside his older brother, Donard. The two have garnered a small reputation for themselves and are approached by a professor of a local university to aid him in acquiring and researching strange relics. What ensues is a journey much more dangerous and far-reaching than what either of them had expected. In another part of society, Marisilia is the daughter of a premier, the title given to individuals in charge of the various provinces in the human empire. She aspires to one day become a Royal Vindicator, powerful protectors respected by all the nations, and spends her days balancing knightly training with the duties expected of her due to her position. The latter often involves interacting with and serving the citizenry, and while she usually enjoys the job, one day an opportunity arises to prove her skills and take the next step in following her dream.
