Synopsis
Humanity had always been an arrogant species. They pushed into the reaches of space with confidence and authority because they assumed that any sentient life they met would be rational, scientific species much like themselves. They were wrong...
Instead, they were exposed to a world of magic, gods, and entities that could not be explained or quantified by Einstein, Newton, or Darwin...
...Earth has long since been destroyed and humanity has been turned into slaves or servants by the advanced species of the universe. They are treated worse than animals because they do not possess the Spark. An untouchable, uknowable characteristic of all sentient species that allow them to use magic. Ket, the victim of violent and painful magical experimentation, acquires the Spark and begins his journey to free his people and reclaim a home. On his journey, he is besieged by a society that does not consider him worthy of self-determination, an obscure magical cult that believes he is the key to Ascension, a world-spanning empire that wants to see humanity eradicated, and a multitude of god-like beings who see mortals as nothing more than a means of entertainment.
