WW2 was filled with many conflicts and effected a huge portion of the world, leaving a lot of battles and events to draw inspiration from. So, drawing out the setting could be really easy, for example the party is a group of polish rebels who captured German equipment and aiding other resistance members on recapturing Warsaw. Or you could go heavily alt history and be a British Mech crew defending London from a naval and air invasion from German forces.
What I decided to focus on was the Americans on the German front, but the campaign would lead the party from North Africa, to Norway, to France, and finally Germany. But I did consider that if the campaign was not going in favor of the party, the Germans could push further into allied territories, possibly landing on the east coast of America.
Setting up classes could also be particularly easy basing the Mechs off of historical tanks. For example;
Sherman Main Battle Mech:
Housing many guns and acting as the fighter of the party.

Stuart Scout Light Mech:
An agile and lightly armored mech replacing the rogue.
Jackson Sniper Mech Hunter:
A long range mech class, slightly resembling the ranger class.
Pershing Heavy Mech:
An armored up mech used for tanking hits.
Lee Recovery/Repair Mech:
Acting as the healer of the party with this vehicle's mechanics.
Cunningham Troop Carrier Mech:
Sporting a squad of infantry in the rear of this mech and allowing them to quickly deploy. A unique class resembling a summoner class.
Each player gets their own mech. The players main character is technically the VC (Vehicle Commander) but the whole crew is also controlled by the player. All players run off of 4 unique stats:
Gunnery-
Aiming, Reconnaissance, Crew Coordination
Operation-
Laborious Tasks, Sprinting, Stealth, Camouflage
Intellect-
Repairs, Translating, Medical Treatment
Leadership-
Command, Intimidation, Deception, Diplomacy
These stats will determine how they perform the following actions. For example, A mech was trying to cross rough terrain and damaged a leg stabilizer, the crew would then have to roll an Intellect to see if they can fix the problem. Or as another example, a piece of building debris had fallen on one of the crew members while outside the mech, the rest of the crew would have to roll Operation in order to clear the debris.
