A LITRPG novel attempting to bring the main character to grips with their death and resurrection in a new world created by a supercomputer, connecting the minds of the crew and passengers on interstellar colony ships traveling to new worlds from a broken earth. The system stops them from going insane as their bodies sleep, their minds remain active in the thousands of years in the deep black and aware of the passing of time.  The main character is placed into this new world by events and must adapt to become a person in this world, a real person may not want to rule, but desires to get along and get a job. The Watch sounded like a good idea, a place where you had the respect of a thousands-year-old city and its people where the inhabitants are only just a little more than the pirate nations, that roam the volcanic islands.  The major city is behind high walls and sea routes are protected by a kraken.
