This is my first attempt at writing fiction without a great deal of planning, so while I hope to keep it quick-paced, I can't make any promises. Yet. Trepid research investigator Tred Lightly isn't trying to win the game. He's not trying to lose it either. He's happy being just decent at finding low-level smugglers and casual tax-evaders for the mayor of Darrow Hollow, his mid-level town in a mid-tier region of the massive virtual RPG that houses 90% of the earth's human population. But when a desperate Treekin woman guilts him into the search for her in-game daughter, he'll have to dodge PVP battles and creep carefully around epic monster dens while trying to save a lost child and avoid his worst nightmare: leveling up.
