Synopsis
In a world where gods walk among mortals and faith can manifest as tangible power, a mysterious Island of Lies draws the attention of divine forces. Cloaked in impenetrable magical wards, crafted by countless wish spells, the island is a nexus of malevolence, teeming with a chaotic evil energy that defies the prying eyes of even the gods. Here lies the last known lair of a nefarious cult, devotees of Beshaba, the Goddess of Chaos and Misfortune.
"The Seven" — an elite group of temple inquisitors — are summoned for an audience with the temple's head priest and the enigmatic headmaster of assassins. Serving the Temple of Hermes, the patron of travelers and merchants, they have been entrusted with the most sacred of tasks: infiltrate the Island of Lies and dissolve the wards, making it accessible for divine justice. Comprising clerics, paladins, monks, rogues, and warlocks, they are the embodiments of skill, piety, and resolve. These holy knights, stealthy assassins, and devout monks are united by a holy calling, yet each carries a personal motive that remains a guarded secret.
Among them are characters of particular intrigue. One seeks to unmask a hidden saboteur among them, while another is the saboteur himself. Unknown to all, these shadowy objectives could either doom or save the entire mission.
As they gather in the sacred chamber, illuminated by the ethereal light of divinity, the head priest presents each with a mystical token — the last of its kind, allowing one-way entry through the island's formidable barrier. The tokens are an irreplaceable treasure; no soul has ever returned from the island to tell the tale of their venture.
The Seven accept their tokens with a sense of gravity, understanding the burden of their quest. "You are now The Seven, the last hope of our Temple and the realm. May Hermes guide your path and fortune favor you," intones the head priest. With a mix of anticipation, dread, and unspoken personal quests, they embark on a journey to a forbidden land from which there is no known return.
This story is based off of a DnD campaign I have written and am playing with each of these characters. I use chatGPT to help me generate snippets and organize my content, hence the "AI assisted" but this is written primarily by myself as a stylized version of my narrative driven campaign.
