Humanity is still recovering, as large swaths of land remain inhospitable while horrid monstrosities hide in their ever-growing shadows. Yet, it is an era of hope, with new nations rising from the ashes of the old, and surviving empires striving to reclaim their former glory. Hans was about as average as a teenager living under the New Stahl Reich could be, until he and his friends were whisked away by the men in suits to serve their empire. They are assigned as infantrymen at some trenches in the northern frontier of the Kaiser's brutal unification campaign. It's all downhill from there. Hi there, thanks for checking out my little story here. This isn't really my first time writing, but it is my first attempt at writing a long-running serial. So, about the story:It takes place during a WWI/WWII-type era, using fictional nations in a fictional world. The magic system is quite unique, as I haven't seen it replicated anywhere else, though it does take some inspiration from works like "Age of Adepts" and "Warlock of the Magus World." The story is a mix of high fantasy and low fantasy in different areas. This story has dark themes, very dark. I am tempted to call it grimdark, but I personally don't think it should qualify. It is not a completely hopeless world, after all. I will still be putting the tag just in case. There is romance later in the story—no harems or anything of the sort. Well then, I guess that's all.
