Andrew Sunderlan was always a little strange. When he was born, his eyes were so pale as to be almost white, and when he was five, he got an invisible best friend named Max. Andrew's parents just thought their son was very creative. As he grew older, he began seeing more invisible friends, but after a few close calls, he learned to keep his experiences to himself. When a serial killer comes to the small town where Andrew lives, the killer's victims seek out Andrew to help find and stop their killer. Andrew accidentally learns details of the murders that he couldn't possibly know, and now he's a suspect. Andrew has to track down the killer, prove his innocence, and all while trying to conceal that his knowledge comes from the souls of the dead.
