A young woman named Charlotte is arranged to be married to the prince of Eroth. When she spends her first night at the castle, she discovers terrifying ghosts and other horrors looming in the hallways during the night. The prince has lost all hope of breaking the spirits and the curse. Charlotte remembers something her grandmother told her about a powerful creature that could summon powers to break any dark magic.  The king sends her on a journey to meet a mage in order to rid the castle of evil.  In the neighboring Kingdom of Avern a woman named Clara is made King of her kingdom after her father, the king, and her brother disappear during an enormous battle. What she doesn't know is that their disappearance was planned, and she is soon pushed into her own perilous journey.
