The Vaek have been the slaves of the Human Empire for many years. A humanoid species with shell on their skin, they evolved to survive the flame-sweeps which, when the sun is right and the Other is in place, devastate the world. But now they have been beaten down. Time and time again, their attempts to escape end only in slaughter. They are now a broken people, forced to endure their lives as slaves. Juil'Kar, though, is different.
