Oppressive Force

Commercial District, Sage’s location.

Satoya was knocked against a wall, his grip on his katana wavering, he slowly charged toward Sage who was unphased by anything that had occurred. In the background, Ragnar was on the ground, unconscious in the middle of the destroyed district. “To be completely honest, kid, I’m very disappointed.” She sighed as she nudged him back slightly, but strong enough for Satoya to stumble back and collapse on the ground. Satoya’s vision blurring even more with each second, and his grip on the katana finally giving up, and at the corner of his vision he saw a building thrown at them, with Sage looking at it with a disturbed expression before holding her hand out and incinerating the building, then saw Thorin, who was injured severely, still retaining his aura of lightning.

“Give up won’t ya?” She said as Thorin lunged toward her. She deflected his punch with a simple wave, then punched him in the face and threw a dagger that resembled a feather at his chest. “Elite rank fraud.” She muttered in discontent.

"Run you useless son of a-” Thorin tried to say but lost consciousness before finishing, but Satoya was incapable of moving, “Those 2 elite ranks…they were so easily overpowered..” Satoya thought, he was in a state of despair, and even if he managed to muster up enough strength to run, he knew he would be killed anyway.

“I need to do something..I truly need to do something..” He mumbled. He felt a voice, faint but oppressive, ordering him to act. This voice wasn't the more gentle yet powerful voice of Rius, but one of sheer strength and oppression.

“Hold out your hand.” The oppressive voice commanded, then Satoya, by adrenaline and desperation, held out his hand toward Sage.

Sage turned around, and for a brief moment, she saw 3 magic circles behind one another in front of his hand, then she heard Satoya slowly chant, “Malefica A Deus”

“Wha?” She thought before she was blasted by a devastating, blasphemous blast that was a mix of grey and dark blue that completely pulverised everything in its general direction.

The blast was so powerful it was seen throughout the continent, and caused a slight earthquake in nearby continents as well, with a person inside a laboratory wearing a lab coat while holding a syringe containing an ominous red liquid grinning maliciously, “so that's the signal he told me about, welp, mind as well get moving.” The person in the lab coat spoke.

Satoya realised what had occurred and stared at his arm, which was miraculously healed completely, and he looked at his palm in pure confusion. “What the hell was that?” He thought. After around a minute of confusion, he saw Sage’s blurred image dash to where he was, then felt his whole upper body being held up by the hair, with Sage staring him down while fidgeting a dagger.

“Hey kid..why the absolute hell do you remind me of that time?” She demanded as she pulled his hair even harder, with Satoya with his only recovered arm trying to reach for his katana, “That time? How the hell am I supposed to know?” Satoya said, but then he saw an insignia that he remembered from his high school history class.

“W-were you a member of his empire?” Satoya mutters in disbelief, then Sage slowly raises his head higher. “You just realized?” She said, with a hint of pride.

Before Satoya could reach his katana, Sage let go of his hair, and stumbled back, clutching her forehead as if she was in pain. She saw herself in the past, curled up against a wall amidst a burning village, full of disfigured corpses, the majority of them were burnt to charcoal, then a few were stabbed to death.

All those corpses seemed to be from close and distant countries, some even being from powerful kingdoms perhaps, some were even members of the VHC (the G.A.A. hasn't been established during this time, which this time is 3000 years ago, during the 6th disaster, or the godslayer era). The specific location nor capital is unknown, but it appeared to be her hometown.

“Hey, are you alright?” A gentle voice called, with her looking up and seeing a young man, who looks to be around 20-21, with short black hair, with streaks of faint purple, in a curtain hairstyle, purple eyes, with him wearing what appeared to be a trench coat with some plating on the sleeves, with an ominous sword sheathed in its scabbard that was placed on his hip. “Where are your parents?” He asked further, his expression was of genuine concern, then he kneeled beside her.

“My parents killed themselves an hour after I was born.” She said in a sad tone, then went on by saying “my aunt took care of me for 10 years before she was murdered, so I had to raise myself since then.” The young man looked around, observing the destruction, “these people, and those flames, were they caused by you?” He asked politely.

“3 years ago (when I was around 17), I somehow gained the ability to conjure up unusual flames, then after that day, no matter how many times I got injured, I just healed back, like I'm immortal..I don't want to be alive anymore…” she said as tears ran down her cheeks.

“You might’ve awakened your Calibre..” he said as he patted her shoulder lightly, which caused her to weep even more, “what's a Calibre?” She asked while wiping away the tears. “Calibres are powers awakened randomly, but not everyone has one, so be glad, you are one of the lucky few who has one.” He assured, before several mercenaries approached them, then Sage looked at them with a concerned expression, but the young man stood up, and patted her head.

The young man calmly walked toward the approaching mercenaries who were all heavily armed, then he asked them, “I would ask you all to leave us alone.” But the mercenaries all laughed loudly, then one of the mercenaries swiftly swung a blade at the young man’s neck, but before any of them realised it, they were all sliced in half horizontally, with one of them barely surviving, but was left in dying state.

Sage noticed something odd, there was a large gaping tear behind the mercenaries, the inside of the tear was devoid of color, absolute nothingness. Then she saw the young man sheathing the ominous sword nearly into its scabbard, with him turning around and holding his hand out.

“Would you like to join us? There is no need to hide, we’ll help you out.” He offered as Sage looked at his hand, then after some hesitation, she took his hand. The young man helped her to her feet, then introduced himself, “I am the 2nd commander of Takeru, Rhokaine Sargivali, what about your name?” He also asked.

Sage once again paused, but slowly mustered enough confidence to introduce herself back, “Sage Hasegawa.” Rhokaine smiled lightly, “Let me guide you to where my Lord is.” He said as they both started walking into the distance.

Now, present time, what was around 30 seconds of her being completely still, holding her forehead, then she stopped, and relaxed a bit. She then muttered “Damn it.” Before she vanished in a flash of red, leaving Satoya there, in utter confusion.
