The Scribe's last story - volume 1.
A lady who shouldn’t be in this world.

A lady who shouldn’t be in this world.

Satoya was efficiently killing Iyas with his katana, he was also learning how to use his calibre pretty well, although he couldn’t choose what type of energy he would use, whether it be light or dark.

“Oh another one, I guess I could try using my calibre a little more.” He said as he swung his hand and sent a teal slash of energy at the Iya, killing it instantly. “You are quite the fast learner, but it would generally take around 3-4 weeks to effectively learn how to choose which type of energy you want to use for any energy related attack.” The voice in his head spoke.

“Haven’t heard you talk in awhile.” Satoya said to the voice. “I’m quite busy at times, so I must apologise.” The voice said before Satoya heard a woman singing a lullaby.

Satoya immediately investigated the source, as he cautiously walked toward the soothing, yet strange lullaby. The voice singing it was soft, and gentle, as if something otherworldly was singing it.

Satoya walked into a small opening amidst the large buildings, he looked around, looking for the source of the singing, and found a small old run down house, bathed in moonlight, with a woman sitting on top of a stone fence, singing the soothing lullaby. The woman had long silver hair that slowly faded into a dark purple, her eyes were both dark purple and black, perhaps from heterochromia, she was wearing a oddly shaped fedora with a feather sticking out of it, and she was also wearing a dress mostly black colour, but stripes of white. Alas there were several ripped pages of books, larger books that switched from open to closed, and a peculiar ink pen orbiting her, leaving a trail of lavender hue.

Satoya never realised it at first, but the lullaby made him calmer, and made him drop his guard, simply in a state of “calm.” He instinctively withdrew the sword, becoming completely unarmed.

He mustered enough willpower to ask a simple question, “Who are you?” The woman echoed the question, “Who am I?”

The woman stopped singing, yet her voice was gentle and soothing. Satoya felt as if she kept talking, he would end up falling asleep, there was something so divine, so otherworldly, but so full of strangeness about the woman, it was as if she didn't belong in the world itself.

“You’ll find out what my “name” is soon, but no right now, perhaps in the future chapters of your life shall you uncover it.” She whispered to him as she walked past him slowly, but he didn’t notice her getting up to walk past him, but as he turned around the woman started to disintegrate.

“Satoya!” The voice inside his head yelled out, as Satoya woke up from a trance. “Jeez, what were you doing, you were dozing off looking at this house for hours, seriously, are you alright?” The voice questioned him, demanding to know what was happening.

Satoya attempted to explain what had happened but the words that came out of his mouth were different. “Oh, this house reminded me of something.” He “said” to the voice, in which the voice simply stayed silent.

Suddenly the chip on his sleeve started to ring, which caught him off guard, “Wait, I was talking to her for that long?” He thought, completely confused.

He walked back to where they were said to meet up, and he saw the rest of the group, bruised, slightly burned, cuts all over, some blood on the arms and head, but everyone else appeared to be in perfect condition.

“Bravo, you all survived, but let's head back, Lionel planned for another mission that the higher ups ordered him to commission to you all, but before that, take this.” Rin said as Ludwig walked through a gate arriving at their location for transportation, he then tossed 6 red pills, which the group reluctantly took, and miraculously, they all healed their wounds.

“Wait, why wouldn’t Haruta give this to us before?” Rayna asked as she was impressed by the effects of the pill. “It is expensive, like 4 million alikurs” He said. “Oh….” She replied back.

“Anyways, let's head back to Lionel.” Rin informed Ludwig, so Ludwig snapped his fingers, Sakonori flinched slightly, but realised that the gate opened right behind Rin and him, and now everyone in the group was just staring at her confused.

They all walk through the gate, appearing in the same room Lionel was in, which was his office. “Lucius, request reinforcements of some sort, and you guys are the only ones available.” Lionel said as he got straight to the point.
