Synopsis
The Ring of Dain Thar Duin is the central story of Iolish Mythology. The epic poem is one every Iolish knows, be they student or pensioner.
The tale begins with Malach, young king of the Ui Lide Aesal. Troubled by dreams of a great storm borne over the Sea to the east, Malach seeks to unite the island. With allies and the cursed warrior Reych, he defeats the kings of the west and becomes the first High King. At his wedding, High King Malach is given a great gift, a ring crafted by a wise man. On this ring is a spell that makes all good things grow in the wearer’s life. From gold it shall breed gold. Thus the ring earned its name, the Ring of Good Fortune. In Iolish: The Ring of Dain Thar Duin.
Three men placed a curse each on the ring, not know that their words had power. Should the ring fall from Malach’s bloodline, these curses would be unleashed on the island. Though Ioland knew of the curses, all people desired to hold the ring. In a night raid Malach was killed and the ring taken. The curses unleashed, Ioland fell into chaos and violence.
The Ring of Dain Thar Duin follows the ring as it ruins lives across the island, as a band of heroes searches the island for the missing daughter of Malach to quiet the curses.
