Synopsis
Beneath the surface, hidden from the eyes of the world above, lies Rat City—a place where humans and rats coexist in uneasy harmony, bound together by necessity rather than choice. Here, the lost and discarded find refuge, but survival is never guaranteed.
Castin never intended to end up in Rat City. Grieving the death of his daughter, he’s a man with nothing left to fight for—until fate drags him into the depths. Expecting filth and savagery, he instead finds a city held together by trust, built on a fragile peace that may not last much longer.
At the heart of it all stands the Rat King, a ruler respected as much as he is feared. But his rule is threatened by the return of Nikodemus, a scientist whose failed experiment once tore Rat City apart. Now, Nikodemus is back, and he’s brought something worse than before, something that could turn the city into his kingdom.
As the past resurfaces and the battle for control begins, Castin is forced to confront a truth he’s spent years avoiding: it’s not the death of his daughter that haunts him, it’s his own guilt. In a city on the brink of war, he must decide if he will stand and fight for a world he never believed in… or let it all crumble.
A dark fantasy tale of grief, redemption, and the weight of choice, The Rat King: Anchor of Guilt is a gritty, immersive adventure where monsters don’t always lurk in the shadows, sometimes, they wear human faces.
