A young man, a blood-stained sword grasped firmly in his hand, takes his first steps onto the bloody path toward heaven, his eyes cruel and bleak. A middle-aged official, scroll in one hand, pen in the other, steps off his post, giving up the secular and the worldly to travel upon the dusty path toward heaven. A young girl, scarred by war, stands alone in the snow outside a temple door; the girl is still and yet, she too has stepped upon the broken path toward heaven. An old man, gazing up into the stars, pondering all that he saw upon the bitter path toward heaven- and the things he saw at the end.
