Ichiro Matsuda, a new student at the prestigious Horikawa Imperial Magic Academy, seeks to hide his dark past and live a normal school life. However, a dispute within the school just days after his enrollment forces him and his fellow regular first-year students to face off against their elite "Jade" counterparts in the upcoming inter-high selection tournament to settle the matter. As fate draws him into the conflict, Ichiro's biggest obstacle is his childhood friend, Hachiratani Hanami, known as "The Valkyrie of the East" and the world's junior number four. Despite his involvement, Ichiro isn't interested in the result and harbors a hidden agenda that extends far beyond his life as a student, bringing him to a more devious and dangerous plot.
