Synopsis

Dave Parson was just doing what any annoyed customer would do - leaving a one-star review. After spending six hours installing "Life.exe," a new reality-augmenting app that everyone raved about, only to have it crash repeatedly, he did what came naturally. He wrote: "Buggy mess, crashed repeatedly, reality glitches everywhere. Would not recommend. Universe needs a complete refactor or at least a major patch." He didn't expect the review to trigger an actual universal debugging protocol. Now Dave, a mid-level QA tester who once filed a bug report about the office coffee machine being haunted, has accidentally become the universe's designated beta tester. Reality is literally rolling back patches, implementing fixes, and worst of all - taking his feedback seriously. Cities transform overnight as "user experience issues" are resolved. Physics gets "rebalanced" every few days. And his fellow humans? They're all slowly becoming aware that existence itself is under maintenance. Between dealing with patch notes that appear in his dreams, arguing with an increasingly passive-aggressive Universal Customer Service AI, and trying to prevent well-meaning cosmic developers from "optimizing" humanity out of existence, Dave needs to figure out how to cancel his universal admin privileges before his next scathing review accidentally deletes the solar system. The only person who might be able to help? A mysterious tech support agent who claims to be from "Reality Development Team B" and swears this is all just a normal part of the universe's agile development cycle. Unfortunately, she keeps getting disconnected every time she's about to explain something useful.
